Publication number: 20240358010Abstract: An equine shoe including a platform and cuffs or lateral walls. The lateral wall of the platform has proximal and distal cut outs. The proximal and distal cutouts of the lateral wall allows for expansion and contraction of a horse hoof through phases a horses gait. The shoe allows for variable customization to cater to all types of horse hoof width and sizes. The lateral walls can either be a uniform material with the shoe platform or the lateral walls can be separate parts of the shoe to allow custom fixture to the horse hoof. The separate lateral walls can then be heat welded to the platform to create a uniform shoe. Alternatively a cuff can be glue to the horse hoof and be received by a corresponding shoe.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 29, 2024Publication date: October 31, 2024Applicant: EasyCare, Inc.Inventor: Garrett Ford

The proximal and distal cutouts of the lateral wall allows for free expansion and contraction of a horse hoof through all phases a horses gait. The shoe allows for variable customization to cater to all types of horse hoof width and sizes. The lateral walls can either be a uniform material with the shoe platform or the lateral walls can be separate parts of the shoe to allow custom fixture to the horse hoof. Patent number: 8413412Abstract: A horse boot (10) includes a shell (12) and a gaiter (22). The shell has a sole (14) and an upper (16) with a vertical slit (18). The gaiter (22) is releasably attached to the heel of the upper and is wrapped around the pastern (P) above the hoof's hairline (C) and below the fetlock to anchor the shell to the pastern and function as a barrier against debris. The gaiter includes a portion of two-way stretch material (60) that makes it possible to fold it out of the way for ease of installation. The process is further facilitated by the slit (18) that allows spreading of the shell. By shaping the upper (16) so that it presses against the hoof (H), the boot is advantageously held in place using only the gaiter anchored to the heel of the boot and strapped to the pastern of the horse.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2012Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Easycare, Inc.Inventor: Garrett N. Ford

Patent number: 8151546Abstract: A horse boot includes the combination of an inner liner (10 and 10?) and an outer shell (12). The liner is adapted to wrap around the front and lateral surfaces of the hoof of the horse, while the shell includes an upper (16) designed to conform with the exterior surface of the liner for attachment to it. The shell is fastened to the liner by some detachable means, such as nuts (22) and bolts (20), and the liner/shell assembly is glued to the hoof. The shell may then be removed at will to allow the hoof to be barefoot and may be re-installed to produce a boot in place when desired.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2009Date of Patent: April 10, 2012Assignee: Easycare, Inc.Inventor: Garrett N. Ford

Patent number: 8151545Abstract: A horse boot has a sole that includes a dome portion designed to conform to the frog and sole of a horse's hoof when no pressure is exerted on it. The dome provides a support surface for the frog and hoof sole when the boot is off the ground and it resiliently deforms downward, thereby allowing the frog and hoof sole to deform naturally, when the boot presses against the ground. As a result, the hoof's frog and sole are always supported in resilient manner while allowed to move as needed for their natural function. The pressure exerted by the ground against the edges of the sole of the boot and the simultaneous counter-pressure exerted by the hoof cause the dome in the boot's sole to flatten, thereby slightly increasing its size to accommodate the natural deformation of the hoof.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2009Date of Patent: April 10, 2012Assignee: Easycare, Inc.Inventors: Garrett N. Ford, Pete Ramey

Patent number: 7578115Abstract: A horse boot (10) includes a shell (12) for a hoof and a gaiter (22) for the pastern. The shell has a sole (14), an upper (16), a tongue (18), and an elastic strap (60) for tightening the upper and the tongue around the hoof of a horse. The gaiter (22) is releasably attached to the upper so as to extend around the rear of the shell and can be wrapped around the pastern (P) of the horse immediately above the hoofs hairline (C) and below the fetlock to function as a barrier against the entry of debris into the shell. The gaiter provides an additional anchor to retain the shell in place under extreme conditions of use. The releasable connection to the shell (12) allows replacement of the gaiter (22) when worn out.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2008Date of Patent: August 25, 2009Assignee: Easycare, Inc.Inventors: Garrett N. Ford, Dana M. Johnsen

Patent number: 7493963Abstract: A horse boot buckle includes a plate with cable eyelets and six cable guides that provide multiple tension adjustments. In addition, the buckle lever includes three alternative grooves for engaging the tensioning cable, thereby providing additional tensioning adjustment. The tensioning cable is hooked to the upper on both sides of its front rim. The buckle lever is pointing up in its closed position, thereby preventing accidental release of the tension on the cable.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2007Date of Patent: February 24, 2009Assignee: Easycare, Inc.Inventor: Garrett N. Patent number: 7287362Abstract: A stirrup bushing is provided with a star-shaped cross-sectional configuration that allows structural distortion when compressed by the forces exerted by a rider. The bushing consists of an inner sleeve adapted to fit tightly around the rod of the stirrup and of outer fins extending radially along the length of the inner sleeve. In an alternative, preferred embodiment, the bushing also includes an outer sleeve enveloping the longitudinal fins, so as to provide an additional structure and an expanded surface to distribute and attenuate the forces exerted by the supporting strap over the rod of the stirrup. The invention lies in the idea of providing voids in the structure of the bushing, such that compressive forces are relieved through deformation, rather than contained in a fixed geometry that produces deterioration of the material.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2003Date of Patent: October 30, 2007Assignee: EasyCare, Inc.Inventor: Garrett N.
