  • Publication number: 20050247900
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a valve stem which is connected with a valve. A drive member is disposed in engagement with the valve stem. A gear assembly is operable to rotate the drive member to effect axial movement of the valve stem. The gear assembly is driven by an electrical motor. In the event of a power failure, the valve may be moved to a closed condition by either a return spring or an auxiliary source of electrical energy. To facilitate movement of the valve between the open and closed conditions, the valve is pressure balanced.

  • Patent number: 6959727
Abstract: A check valve for connection in a fuel tank filler tube. The valve has a tubular body with a plurality of radially inwardly extending vanes or ribs in the inlet end about a portion of the circumference. The ribs are tapered in the flow direction to deflect the end of a siphoning hose to an offset opening. A valve seat and poppet with a tapered surface are disposed downstream of the ribs, clearance apertures are formed in the side of the tubular body downstream of the valve seat. The tapered surface of the poppet, upon being opened by insertion of the end of a siphoning hose deflects the hose outwardly through the clearance apertures to facilitate further insertion into the tank. The poppet is biased normally closed by a spring.

  • Patent number: 6957660
Abstract: A pressure relief valve has a valve element that is biased by a spring into a closed position. A pressure being controlled is applied to the valve element to counter the force of the spring. When the pressure applied to the valve element exceeds the force of the spring the pressure relief opens, otherwise the valve closes. The pressure is applied through a damping orifice which controls the rate at which the applied pressure can increase and decrease thus delaying the response of the pressure relief valve to pressure changes in both directions. The relative size relationship between the inlet and outlet can be varied to define the pressure-flow characteristic of the pressure relief valve.

  • Publication number: 20050202928
Abstract: An automated vehicle transmission having a wet clutch and an auxiliary motor that is operatively connected to the transmission to overcome residual torque forces in the wet clutch. Residual torque forces in the wet clutch may prevent disengagement of a gear train and also prevent the transmission from shifting into neutral. A control system determines whether residual torque is resisting the disengagement of the gear train for more than a predetermined time period. According to the method, if a shift is delayed for more than the predetermined time period, the auxiliary motor is actuated to apply an oppositely oriented torque to the transmission gear train to overcome the residual torque and allow the transmission to shift into neutral.
