  • Patent number: 12348121
Abstract: A transitional USB receptacle has one USB PD port and one USB-C port (non-PD). The receptacle includes flyback topology for AC/DC conversion, a bypass circuit, a buck converter, and a USB controller that determines the voltage demands of external devices connected to the USB-C and PD ports. The flyback topology uses a transformer with two sets of windings that produce different output voltages. The bypass switch is configured to ensure that only voltage signals under 10V are input to the buck converter, resulting in a different one of the transformer output voltages being input to the buck converter under different load demands. This enables the buck converter to more efficiently produce a 5V at the USB-C port when the USB PD port needs to simultaneously supply either 15V or 20V, and also enables the buck converter to more efficiently produce a 5V or 9V output at the USB PD port.

  • Publication number: 20250201499
Abstract: A circuit breaker includes two sets of separable contacts in series per pole, primary contacts and secondary contacts, reducing overall let-through energy and peak pressures within the arcing chambers of the breaker during arc interruption. Opening both sets of contacts produces two arcs in series per pole, and the two series arcs increase the line to load resistance of the breaker relative to when only one set of contacts are opened. The increased line to load resistance causes the peak let-through current, Ipk, to decrease relative to what Ipk would be if only one set of contacts were to be opened. The circuit breaker also includes an internal primary vent that vents gases away from the primary contacts to another area within the circuit breaker housing, and a secondary exhaust vent that vents gases away from the secondary contacts to the exterior of the circuit breaker.

  • Publication number: 20250183580
Abstract: An improved wire management connector for conductors run to an electrical wiring device from a main circuit breaker or branch breaker within a building is disclosed. The connector is formed with multiple channels, with each channel having a conductor receiving opening formed at its top end. For each conductor, the first end of the conductor can be secured within the interior of the connector such that the rest of the conductor runs through the conductor receiving opening to the exterior of the connector through the channel. Each channel has a lateral width slightly wider than the diameter of a conductor. The depth and height of each channel is greater than the lateral width, enabling each conductor to move freely in the depth and height dimensions with a reduced risk of getting compressed when the connector and electrical wiring device are placed in a confined space, such as a wall box.
