Abstract: Systems, methods and media for purchasing and commenting on identified products in media content are provided. In one example, a method comprises receiving media content from a content source and accessing data relating to an aspect of the media content, such as a product or service shown in the media content. The media content is communicated to first and second display devices for presentation to respective first and second users, and the data relating to an aspect of the media content is also sent to the first and second devices for presentation to the first and second users at about the same time. User commentary generated by the first or second user associated with the media content or the data relating to an aspect of the media content is received from the first or second device.

Abstract: A method and a system for making contextual recommendations to users on a network-based system. For example, activity associated with a user interacting with a network-based system is tracked. Based, at least in part, on the tracked user activity on the network-based system, a recommendation relationship type is selected. The recommendation relationship type can be either a substitute relationship type or a complement relationship type. A recommended object can be selected based at least in part on the recommendation relationship type and a first object accessed by the user interacting with the network-based system. A recommendation can be generated for the recommended object for presentation to the user interacting with the network-based system.

Abstract: Colored three-dimensional digital model generation techniques and systems are described. In one example, scanning techniques are employed by a scanning system that scans a physical object while disposed within packaging to form a three-dimension digital model. A model coloring system is employed to color the three-dimensional digital model. A two-dimensional digital image is employed that captures the same or similar physical object. In one example, features of the model are matched to the image. This is then used to align a viewing perspective with respect to the model with a viewing perspective of the object within the digital image, e.g., to find which “view” of the model corresponds with the image. The color is then applied from the digital image to the model, e.g., from pixels of the image to corresponding points in the model.

Abstract: A ring design machine receives one or more selections of gemstones and one or more selections of settings and allows a user to “mix and match” gemstones and settings and view a selected gemstone in a compatible setting for that gemstone. To present the gemstone in the setting, the ring design machine presents a combination image that depicts the gemstone in the setting. The ring design machine, which may be implemented using a computer programmed by software, may present the combination image to the user in response to receiving a selection of the gemstone and a selection of the setting from the user via a network.

Abstract: A current screen is presented on a display of a user device, which includes an element distinct from a previous element of a previous screen, where the previous element occupied less than an entirety of the previous screen. The user device receives a gesture input that requests that the previous element be presented within the current screen next to a current element of the current screen. The gesture input indicates a location of the current element, wherein the location of the current element is less than an entirety of the current screen and is the same location at which the previous element was presented on the previous screen. The user device presents, on the display of the user device and responsive to receiving the gesture input, a contemporaneous view of the previous element next to the current element at the location of the current element within the current screen.

Abstract: In example embodiments, a first pattern of characters is displayed on a user interface of a user device. A user input is received and the first pattern of characters is replaced by a second pattern of characters. The user input is a selection of one of the characters from the pattern of characters. Each character is encrypted by a password selection rule (e.g., assign to a character selection the value of the character adjacent in a clockwise, counterclockwise, or diagonal direction from the selected character). After all user inputs are received determined from the password selection rule, an input password is generated. The generated input password is compared to a stored password designation to determine whether the input password matches the stored password designation. If the input password matches the stored password designation, the user is authorized to have access to the user device.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for determining an item that has confirmed characteristics are described herein. An image that depicts an object is received from a client device. Structured data that corresponds to characteristics of one or more items are retrieved. A set of characteristics is determined, the set of characteristics being predicted to match with the object. An interface that includes a request for confirmation of the set of characteristics is generated. The interface is displayed on the client device. Confirmation that at least one characteristic from the set of characteristics matches with the object depicted in the image is received from the client device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for adaptive search refinement is provided. The method may include obtaining an indication of user engagement with an online marketplace and in response to obtaining the indication, providing visually guided search refinement to construct a search query for searching the online marketplace. Providing the visually guided search refinement may include providing search refinement options, obtaining an indication of the approval or disapproval of one or more of the search refinement options, and repeating providing the search refinement options and receiving the indication. For each iteration of providing the plurality of search refinement options, at least some of the search refinement options may be different and determined based on previously received indications of both approval and disapproval. The method for adaptive search refinement may further include providing search results based on the search query.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for modifying images are presented. The system receives a user interface selection initiating an image capture and detects a first image capture parameter. The system identifies an object of interest within a field of view of an image capture device and identifies a set of object characteristics of the object of interest. The system generates a parameter notification indicating a suggested modification of the first image capture parameter based on one or more object characteristics of the set of object characteristics. The system causes presentation of the parameter notification at the image capture device.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided to identify and present filters. The system receives a query, over a network, from a client machine and identifies a filter context based on the query. The filter context including a first plurality of filters. The system further identifies a second plurality of filters responsive the receiving the query. The identifying the second plurality of filters is based on the filter context and a plurality of probabilities. The system generates a user interface including search results that are identified based on the filter context. The system communicates the user interface, over the network, to the client machine.

Abstract: Method and system to facilitate transactions in a particular on-line trading platform from a third party web site may be utilized beneficially to enhance a user's experience in purchasing items referenced on third party web pages. When a user encounters, on a third party web site, a presentation of an item that is linked to a listing maintained by the on-line trading platform, the user may simply click on the presentation of the item, which causes presentation of a visual control selectable to launch a transaction processing flow facilitated by the on-line trading platform, without requiring the user to leave the third party web site.

Abstract: A system server includes a database of two-dimensional images and a processor coupled to a hardware memory with instructions that in response to execution by the processor direct performance of operations. The operations include generating a digital model from the images in the database and communicating a first portion of the digital model as an enhanced view to a user device. The first portion corresponds to a first line of sight orientation of the user device as measured by an orientation sensor. The operations include receiving a signal based on sensor data measured by the orientation sensor. The signal indicates movement of the user device from the first line of sight orientation to a second line of sight orientation. In response, the method includes communicating a second portion of the digital model to the user device that corresponds to the second line of sight orientation of the user device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for generating recommendations using multi-level social network analysis of user behavior. In some embodiments, the system receives a set of user interactions, from a plurality of users, performed on a set of data objects; generates a set of associations between the set of data objects; and identifies a set of data object clusters indicative of the set of associations. The system generates an organization of the set of data objects based on the set of associations and the set of data object clusters and causes presentation of a plurality of data objects of the set of data objects on a user interface of a user device based on the organization.

Abstract: Technologies are shown for secure management of evaluation data that involves receiving an evaluation value signal from a source, the evaluation value signal relating to an evaluation entity having an evaluation score secured on an evaluation data blockchain and verifying whether the source is identified in trusted source data. If the source is trusted, then the technology involves obtaining a weight associated with the source, obtaining the evaluation score for the evaluation entity from a first evaluation data block in the evaluation data blockchain, where the first evaluation data block is a most recent evaluation data block in the evaluation data blockchain, calculating a new evaluation score based on the evaluation score obtained from the first evaluation data block and the received valuation signal weighted according to the weight associated with the source, and securely committing the new evaluation score to the evaluation data blockchain in another evaluation data block.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for matching a buyer and a seller on a market place system and generating calibrated user profiles. In one such system a plurality of subjective estimations of value is received. The subjective estimations of value are a measure between a predetermined minimum value and a predetermined maximum value. A user profile is generated. A plurality of user actions corresponding to the plurality of subjective estimations of value is received. The user profile is calibrated based on the plurality of user actions.

Abstract: An attribute correlation system reduces network traffic and processing cycles associated with impromptu item selections by generating attribute preference models based on disparate attribute spectrums. The attribute correlation system deploys the attribute preference models to select individual items from various disparate “candidate item categories.” Generally described, the attribute preference models facilitate analyzing item sets across a wide variety of disparate “candidate” item categories to preemptively identify individual items for a user. In this way, the individual items may be identified and, ultimately, selected for the user even absent any indication that the user has searched for otherwise identified these items or even other items from within the disparate “candidate” item categories. The “candidate” item categories may be determined to be disparate from one another based on a relationship void existing such that predefined relationships are missing between these “candidate” item categories.

Abstract: A computer implemented method to present digital images may include storing a digital image in a database and applying a digital image processing technique to the digital image to identify a region of interest of the digital image. The method may also include storing region data that identifies the region of interest of the digital image in the database and receiving a request for information associated with the digital image from a digital device. In response to the request, the method may include providing the digital image and the region data for transmission to the digital device, the digital device configured to adjust a cropping view of the digital image based on the region data to display the region of interest of the digital image.

Abstract: Multiuse certificates (e.g., wildcard certificates) can be associated with policies that specify one or more computational constraints, e.g., limited processor power, limited access time, limited access to file system usage, or limited memory access. An application associated with a multiuse certificate can be monitored to ensure that the specified computational constraints are not violated. Upon the computational constraints being violated, the multiuse certificate can be invalidated and/or authentication requests rejected.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a navigation system and computer-implemented methods for proactively re-routing vehicles based on an analysis of input component data obtained from the navigation-enabled devices. The navigation system scores the input component data to obtain a measure of frustration (e.g., a feeling of being upset or annoyed) of the user of the navigation-enabled device. The navigation system may provide a detour suggestion for display on the navigation-enabled device to persuade the user of the device to direct their vehicle to depart from its current location or route in an effort to remove the vehicle from traffic, and thereby reduce the frustration level of the user. The detour suggestion may include an alternative route to the original destination, or an alternative destination.

Abstract: A method and system for streamlining a voting process performed by a web application is provided. As the web application may require that a voting action is effectuated after the user is registered to vote and also has supplied valid credentials, the web application is configured to receive credentials of the user stored by a second web application, e.g., a web-based social networking application. Subsequent to receiving the credentials of the user stored by the second web application, the web application processes the request to effectuate voting process by registering the user to vote and storing the vote information for the user.
