Abstract: To provide a novel light responsive material having responsive property with visible light despite essentially not comprising oxygen defects, a method of manufacturing thereof, and applications thereof. That is, the light-responsive material in the form of rutile-type titanium oxide with a light source peak wavelength of 520 nm and activity due to the effect of light with a full width at half maximum of 20 nm. The activity due to the effect of light is NO elimination activity. The method of manufacturing the light-responsive material comprising the treatment with nitrogen plasma, or the treatment in an ammonia atmosphere of rutile-type titanium oxide.
