Abstract: A method and a device allow scaled strand-shaped metal forming products to be coated with a solid lubricant for the purpose of a forming process in a downstream drawing process while preventing the removal of scale layers present on the metal forming product or solid layers which contain scale. At the same time, the prerequisites for substantially improving the stability of the downstream drawing process and the quality of the produced products should be met. In the method, the scaled forming product is coated with a solid lubricant prior to the downstream drawing process and formed with a degree of deformation in excess of 3%. The forming product is then drawn through at least one accumulation chamber in order to mix the scale particles produced from the scale layer as a result of the forming process with the lubricant provided on the forming product after the forming process.
Abstract: Coating and shaping of strand-shaped metallic material by drawing using lubricants in solid to liquid state is disclosed. The disclosed method and arrangement enables high-performance shaping while decisively reducing expenditure on apparatus. At the same time, sealing problems with respect to lubricant are eliminated and several technical parameters in the shaping and coating process are improved depending on the material to be shaped. The shaping stock is coated with lubricant by a double chamber arrangement comprising a low-pressure lubricant chamber followed by a high-pressure lubricant chamber and is shaped by means of working drawing dies at the outputs of the chambers. The low-pressure chamber is filled with solid to pasty lubricant by a lubricant feed and a low pressure is applied to this lubricant externally.

Abstract: The disclosure concerns the field of metallurgy and relates to a method and device for use in the forming of wire-shaped metal material, in particular in wire drawing. To form and/or coat wire-shaped metal material with solid to paste-consistency lubricants, the material is passed through a pressure chamber fitted with at least one inlet nozzle and at least one outlet nozzle. Located in the pressure chamber is a solid to paste-consistency lubricant which is under pressure. The pressure is set and/or regulated and raised by means of an external pressure-generation unit. The combined pressure/temperature setting used for the lubricant is always kept below the level at which the lubricant would liquefy. The lubricant is used as a powder or in the form of shaped articles, preferably compacts, pellets or granules, and fed to the pressure chamber from lubricant-storage facilities through feed channels.
