  • Patent number: 8562796
Abstract: Control systems for use of electrolysis solutions for automated recirculating or single-pass cleaning systems, such as clean-in-place (CIP) applications are disclosed. Control systems and methods for using automated chlorine output solutions for various cleaning applications are measurable over broad pH ranges. The control systems generate consistent and predictable electrolytic solutions and include a measurement system that identifies chlorine oxyanion concentration across broad ranges of pH, overcoming the sensitivity of chlorine monitors to pH and permitting use of the control systems to control cleaning systems.

  • Patent number: 8562810
Abstract: Methods for enhancing alkalinity and performance of ash-based detergents are disclosed. Nonhazardous ash-based detergent alkalinity is enhanced through increasing the ratio of sodium hydroxide to ash-based alkalinity. Methods according to the invention do not require the addition of chemical ingredients, do not generate additional waste streams and use the entirety of the ash-based detergent. The methods according to the invention provide alkalinity-enhanced detergent use solutions that are sufficiently concentrated for adequate cleaning capability while only requiring minimal amounts of the use solution to be dispensed for an in situ cleaning process.

  • Patent number: 8563320
Abstract: A use composition monitor determines the concentration of peracid and/or peroxide in a use composition using a kinetic assay procedure. A sample mixture containing a sample of the use composition, a diluent and at least one reagent is prepared and analyzed using, for example, an optical detector. A reduced-turbulence optical detector can be used to improve collected response data. A reduced-turbulence optical detector can include a cell body disposed about a length of transparent tubing. The cell body positions one or more emitter/receiver pairs about the transparent tubing. Thus, tube junctions are eliminated and sample flow within the tube is substantially turbulence free.

  • Patent number: 8557338
Abstract: This invention is directed to a method of inhibiting corrosion-erosion in pipelines carry slurries. The method includes contacting for a period of at least 1 hour an inner surface of the pipeline with a composition of matter, the composition being at least one corrosion inhibitor within a water solvent, purging the pipeline of the water, and then transporting a slurry through the pipeline. This method is surprisingly effective because it prevents erosion with materials that were previously known to not have any effect on erosion. In addition it is effective on especially hard slurries such as bauxite for which previous uses of these inhibitors did not prevent erosion.

  • Publication number: 20130256557
Abstract: A fluorescence analysis system may include a sensor head that has a light source configured to emit light into a flow of fluid, a detector configured to detect fluorescent emissions from the flow of fluid, and a temperature sensor. The system may also include a flow chamber that includes a housing defining a cavity into which the sensor head can be inserted. In some examples, the housing is configured such that, when a flow of fluid enters the housing, the flow of fluid divides into at least a major stream passing adjacent the light source and the detector and a minor stream passing adjacent the temperature sensor. Such a flow chamber may direct fluid past different sensors components while inhibiting a build-up of solids particles, the generation of air locks, or other flow issues attendant with continuous or semi-continuous online operation.

  • Publication number: 20130252862
Abstract: The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a mixture of a water-miscible silicone material and a water-miscible lubricant. The mixture can be applied in relatively low amounts, to provide thin, substantially non-dripping lubricating films. In contrast to dilute aqueous lubricants, the lubricants of the invention provide drier lubrication of the conveyors and containers, a cleaner conveyor line and reduced lubricant usage, thereby reducing waste, cleanup and disposal problems.
