  • Patent number: 6937156
Abstract: A method and apparatus for capacitively sensing one or more pests is disclosed. The detector may be employed as either a passive detector and/or as a part of a combined detector and trap. The sensor system includes at least two sensor electrodes and a capacitance sensing circuit. When a non-capacitive object, such as a pest, approaches the sensor electrodes, the capacitance of the sensor electrodes increases due to the object having a higher dielectric constant than air. A capacitance sensing circuit detects the increased capacitance and provides an output signal that a pest has entered the area being monitored. The capacitance sensing circuit may also be constructed to measure the change in the electrode in order to determine the size and/or type of pest based on a characteristic change.

  • Patent number: 6921252
Abstract: A hydraulic pump for injecting a predetermined amount of a fluid product into a line carrying fluid that is subject to cyclic pressure. A chamber has a rigid outer wall adapted to be fluidly coupled to the line. A flexible bladder positioned within the chamber forms a cavity between the bladder and the outer wall of the chamber. The outer wall of the chamber has a first opening and a second opening, both the first opening and the second opening being in fluid communication with the cavity, the first opening adapted to be fluidly coupled to the fluid product, the second opening adapted to be fluidly coupled to the line. The flexible bladder is responsive to fluid pressure in the chamber by moving toward the outer wall of the chamber under a relatively high pressure from the fluid from the line and rebounding to a predetermined position away from the outer wall of the chamber when under a relatively low pressure from the fluid from the line.

  • Publication number: 20050149273
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for controlling concentration of a component chemical product in a chemical solution. The chemical solution is formed in a solution tank by combining the component chemical product with water. The component chemical product is dispensed to the solution tank by a chemical dispenser that is controlled by measured conductivity readings of the chemical solution taken in the solution tank. The conductivity readings are analyzed against a conductivity setpoint to determine whether the component chemical product should be added to the chemical solution. A conductivity offset is determined and applied to the analysis thereby taking into consideration any conductivity that may be attributable to constituents of the chemical solution other than the component chemical product. Such constituents include soil washed from the articles and the water used to form the chemical solution.
