Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a method for reducing polymer agglomeration or fouling, and its use in processes for the preparation of an acrylate, methacrylic acid, or a methacrylate. According to the present invention, the reagent comprises an alkyl phthalate, an alkaryl phthalate, an aryl phthalate, or a phthalic acid, and applying the reagent to processes for the preparation of an acrylate, methacrylic acid, or a methacrylate to prevent polymeric foulant precursors from agglomerating or to dissolve existing polymeric agglomerates or foulants so as to reduce polymer agglomeration or fouling in the process or storage equipment.
Abstract: The invention involves liquid cleaning compositions that are cocamide DEA free. According to the invention, nonionic surfactants can be used as rheology modifiers in combination with various coupling agents to provide an environmentally friendly alternative for traditional liquid cleaning compositions that rely on cocamide DEA thickening agents.

Abstract: Synergistic combinations of extended chain surfactants and co-surfactants, emulsions or microemulsions and cleaning compositions incorporating the same are provided. In certain embodiments a surfactant system is disclosed which includes extended nonionic surfactants, and a linker surfactant. This system forms stable emulsions or microemulsions with oils, including non-trans fats and fatty acids and these emulsions or microemulsions are stable, irreversible and can be created at low temperature. The cleaning compositions may include the surfactant system alone, a stable emulsion or microemulsion with oil and the surfactant system, a pre-spotter or other pre-treatment or soft surface and hard surface cleaning compositions comprising the surfactant combination.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for dispensing an off-gassing liquid product mixed with a diluting product are provided. A liquid product or product solution is moved through a primed product line and towards a dispenser. The liquid product is combined with the diluting product to create a solution. The solution is dispensed. Prevention of displacement of the product line is accomplished by redirecting at least a portion of the unused liquid product in the product line to a displacement system operatively attached to the product line and including a secondary container. The stored product may be used with the next dispensement of solution, or emptied in a sanitary manner.

Abstract: Alkyl phosphonates prepared from amino acids suitable for use in inhibiting scale. The phosphonates are obtained as reaction mixtures where the level of alkyl phosphonation is deliberately controlled to provide only partial alkyl phosphonation of the amino acid. The resulting alkyl phosphonates exhibit improved environmental properties compared to the fully substituted species, while still exhibiting acceptable efficacy in the control of scale. The compositions possess advantages over existing phosphonates in that they exhibit higher biodegradation by method OECD 306. They also offer lower toxicity to marine life compared to the fully substituted species and are not expected to bioaccumulate.
