  • Retrieval of articles from beneath the surface of a body of water

    Abstract: Equipment for raising to the surface of a body of water a retrievable article. A cable extends downwardly, and the article is held to the cable at a selected depth. A buoyancy device with a floodable cavity and a gas supply tank travels down the cable to the article where it magnetically attaches to it, and releases gas to blow the cavity, providing positive lift to the surface for the combination. The retrievable article may be a sediment collector whose apertures are closed by the buoyancy device.
