Patent number: 8440153Abstract: A method for preparing manganese sulfate and zinc sulfate from waste batteries containing manganese and zinc, and more particularly to a method for preparing manganese sulfate and zinc sulfate from waste batteries containing manganese and zinc. Zinc powder and activated carbon are added to a leached solution obtained from a continuous leaching process so as to remove heavy metals and organic materials from the leached solution, and then the leached solution is spray-dried to simultaneously obtain manganese sulfate and zinc sulfate at high-purity by a simple process without generating wastewater. An environmentally friendly waste battery recycling process is thereby provided, because it is not required to use additional chemical substances for neutralization titration or impurity removal in recovering manganese sulfate and zinc sulfate by leaching a waste battery powder.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2010Date of Patent: May 14, 2013Assignees: Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral, Econics CorporationInventors: Shun Myung Shin, Jin Gu Kang, Jeong Soo Sohn, Hyun Gun Kim, Moon Ho Kim

Patent number: 4360336Abstract: A combustion control system which utilizes non-linear parameters for controlling a combustion process with greater efficiency than has heretofore been available is disclosed. According to the method, the quantity of carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons, and/or opacity is measured and compared with a predetermined value for that parameter. Error signals for each parameter are generated and supplied to an error selector which chooses the error signal of the largest magnitude. The error signal is then compensated for the non-linear relationship between the parameter and the amount of excess air supplied to the combustion process. Other operations, including checking the proposed control signal output against one or more constraints are performed, and if satisfactory, an output signal is supplied to a servo-mechanism for controlling the air flow to the combustion process.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1980Date of Patent: November 23, 1982Assignee: Econics CorporationInventor: Stanley H. Patent number: 4206630Abstract: A sample chamber for a gas analyzer for use in a duct containing gases to be analyzed is disclosed and includes a flow directing apparatus formed by a pair of spaced members which form a passage therebetween in the form of a converging diverging throat and an outer housing at least partially surrounding the flow directing apparatus. This outer housing has at least a pair of apertures and is movable by a suitable apparatus between one position in which the outer housing apertures are generally aligned with the flow directing passage and another position in which the outer housing apertures are spaced from the passage with non-apertured portions of the outer housing positioned across the ends of that passage.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1979Date of Patent: June 10, 1980Assignee: Econics CorporationInventor: Howard A. Patent number: 4205550Abstract: In a duct having a gas of predetermined density and viscosity flowing therethrough at a predetermined velocity, a sample chamber for a gas analyzer for use in such a duct is disclosed and includes an inner chamber having a passage therethrough and an outer chamber at least partially surrounding the inner chamber and having a pair of apertures, with the outer housing being movable by suitable apparatus between one position in which the outer housing apertures are generally aligned with the inner chamber passage and another position in which the outer housing apertures are spaced from the inner chamber passage, the outer housing and inner chamber being configured and dimensioned such that the Reynolds number for the flow of duct gases over the outer housing and inner chamber is sub-critical when the outer housing is in its other position with its apertures spaced from the inner chamber passage.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1979Date of Patent: June 3, 1980Assignee: Econics CorporationInventor: S.
