  • Publication number: 20090062781
Abstract: A method and combination for performing laser therapy, involving the steps of providing a sheet of clear film of appropriate size and thickness, and placing the sheet of clear film over an area of a skin to be treated prior to laser therapy. The method may further include steps of replacing the sheet with a new sheet of clear film, periodically during the therapy.

  • Patent number: 6482240
Abstract: Collagen membranes are formed from porcine rinds (i.e., pig skins) for us in a variety of applications and, most preferably, for wrapping food products, such as hams and the like. First, after removing skins from the porcine, the skins are promptly frozen. In later processing, the rinds are thawed and then enzymatically defatted. Then, a quick alkalinic hydrolyzation is performed on the rinds. Then, an acidic hydrolyzation is performed on the rinds. The rinds are then ground into a gel-like fluid mass. Finally, the fluid mass is extruded, sheeted and dried into a collagen membrane. The collagen membrane produced can be, in preferred embodiments, used for wrapping food products, such as hams.

  • Patent number: 6479481
Abstract: Methods and compositions for the treatment and/or prophylaxis and/or suppression of primary and/or secondary tumors of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord, eyes) in mammalian subjects are disclosed, wherein an effective dose of a methylol transfer agent such as Taurolidine and/or Taurultam and/or a bioequivalent is administered to a mammalian subject suffering from, or at risk of growth of, tumors of the central nervous system. Furthermore, methods for local application of Taurolidine and/or Taurultam and/or a bioequivalent in solution are disclosed using microdialysis methods, irrigation methods, implantation methods and angiographic methods.

  • Publication number: 20020013627
Abstract: A method of promoting regeneration of surface cartilage of a joint includes the steps of covering the area to be treated with a patch which includes a sheet of collagen membrane material. The collagen membrane material has at least one barrier layer to prevent passage of cells therethrough. The collagen membrane further includes a matrix layer predominantly of collagen II having an open sponge-like texture. The patch is fixed over the area to be treated, and the area is allowed to regenerate cartilage.

  • Patent number: 6221109
Abstract: A method of protecting a spinal area of a patient includes the step of positioning a sheet of collagen membrane material so as to surround at least a portion of a patient's spinal chord. The sheet of collagen membrane preferably includes at least one barrier layer with a smooth face to inhibit cell adhesion and act as a barrier to prevent passage of cells therethrough. When surgery involves placement of s vertebrae replacement material between vertebrae, the collagen membrane material can be positioned so as to surround at least a portion of the vertebrae replacement material.
