Abstract: A door-holding device for vehicle doors includes a door-holding rod which is swivelably attached to a structural door component. The door-holding rod extends with its other end through a holder housing mounted on another structural door component. The door-holding rod has along its length increased thickness portions which protrude outwardly transversely of the longitudinal direction of the door-holding rod. The door-holding rod is freely swivelably mounted on a carrier member with a clinch bolt or screw bolt. The carrier member is attached to one of the structural door components. A spring load is applied to the door-holding rod in axial direction of the swivel bearing of the door-holding rod. The spring rests against a head of the bolt. The bolt is mounted secured against rotation in an opening of the carrier member.

Abstract: An arrangement for mounting doors on motor vehicles, wherein the doors may be removed during assembly and replaced in a desired mounted position on the vehicle including an upper and a lower hinge assembly with at least one screw bolt engaged in one of the assemblies along a common rotational axis for securing the door in its installed operating position. At least one of the hinge assemblies is provided with a first and a second commercial bearing part which are arranged in a forked configuration with a third commercial bearing part being operatively engaged between the first and second bearing parts in a free space therebetween. An axially adjustable bearing pin is arranged to extend through one of the first and second bearing parts to hold the door so as to be free from play and to secure the door in its installed operating position against unintentional removal.

Abstract: A removable door hinge for motor vehicle doors including two hinge portions to be fastened to the motor vehicle body and the motor vehicle door, respectively. The hinge portions have eye portions defining eye bores. When the hinge is assembled, the eye portions mesh with each other and a hinge pin extends through the eye bores. The two hinge portions are secured against unintentional separation over the permissible pivoting range of the hinge by means of meshing projections and recesses arranged alternatingly on the hinge portions. The hinge pin is divided into two bolt-like halves which are each non-rotatably fastened in an eye portion of one of the hinge portions. A recess serving for the hinge against unintentional separation is provided in the hinge portion to be fixed to the door immediately adjacent the upper eye portion of this hinge portion.

Abstract: In a hinge assembly intended for suspension of motor vehicle doors having two hinge halves which can be attached at one of two door installation parts and connected with one another so as to be rotatable by means of a hinge pin, the hinge halves being rotatable with running fit in one hinge half and being arranged secured against axial movement, the two hinge halves are arranged in a position which corresponds to the hung-in position of the vehicle door and they are secured by screw bolts which penetrate the hinge eye of the second hinge half to prevent that the hinge falls apart during a possible automatic loosening from the position of the two hinge halves when the door is hung in due to assembly errors. Screw bolts form the primary safety mechanism of the hinge assembly and a secondary emergency safety device is also provided which is formed by means of interlocking sections or parts of both hinge wings extending over the area of the operating angle of traverse of the hinge assembly.

Abstract: A protective device for window panes which are susceptible to scratching, particularly the window panes in folding convertible tops of vehicles. The pane is at its circumference welded into an envelope of covering material which forms a window frame. The covering material is sewed together with the window panel. During the manufacture and assembly of the convertible top, the window pane is provided with the cover of a material which is mechanically weak but soft and neutral relative to the pane material and of a foil having a high mechanical strength. The protective cover is sewed together with the window pane and the envelope of covering material. For an easy removal of the edge regions, the protective cover is provided with tooth-like or interrupted edge portions.

Abstract: A hinge assembly particularly for mounting the door of a motor vehicle having a first and a second hinge wing with first and second hinge eyes, respectively, thereon, a hinge pin operatively interposed between said first and second hinge eyes and a knurled portion interposed between the hinge pin and one of the first and second hinge eyes to effect nonrotative relative engagement therebetween. A bushing of maintenance-free bearing material is interposed between the hinge pin and the other of the first and second hinge eyes and a liner made of high strength material is inserted in the bushing between the hinge pin and the bushing. The knurled section may extend over the hinge pin at least one and one-half times the length required for securely fixing the hinge pin.

Abstract: A hinge assembly particularly for the door of a motor vehicle enabling the door to be removed and replaced during assembly of the motor vehicle, wherein a first and a second hinge member are engaged on a hinge pin with the first hinge member being freely rotatable relative to the hinge pin, but axially fixed relative thereto and wherein the second hinge member is axially movable relative to the hinge pin, but capable of being placed in nonrotative locking engagement therewith in the assembled condition of the vehicle, the assembly being provided with spring-loaded carrier engaging the second hinge member and the hinge pin to ensure fixed rotative engagement therebetween in the assembled condition of the vehicle.

Abstract: A hinge attachment arrangement for mounting a door on a motor vehicle includes a pair of hinge wings interconnected by a hinge pin with one hinge wing to be secured to a vehicle door and the other to a fastening element secured to the door frame on the vehicle. The other hinge wing is secured to the fastening element by at least one bolt. The other hinge wing and the fastening element also have at least one continuous borehole for receiving a plug or bolt when the other hinge wing is attached to the fastening element. The borehole and the plug or bolt form guide surfaces which slide one relative to the other so that the guide surfaces afford self-centering and the elimination of play in the assembly of the hinge attachment arrangement.

Abstract: A door hinge assembly combined with a door holding device particularly for motor vehicles has a first and a second hinge member mounting the door for swinging movement between an open and a closed position, a torsion bar spring supported at one of the hinge members and having a load arm projecting over the height of the hinge member and directed parallel to the hinge axis and a pair of abutment rollers rotatively displaced against a spring disc which acts as a brake at the other of the hinge members located a distance from the hinge axis. The abutment rollers operate in cooperation with the load arm of the torsion bar to form a catch device for holding the door at least in the open position and the abutment rollers are formed with different diameters along their circumference and they are rotatably mounted about bearing axes, respectively, which are arranged spaced a distance from each other, which distance is less than the dimension of the larger diameter.

Abstract: A door hinge assembly which facilitates fitting and aligning of a door particularly in motor vehicles including a first and a second hinge member each having, respectively, a first and a second eye with a hinge pin being engaged within the eyes of the hinge members to operatively mount the hinge members together. The hinge pin is mounted so as to be freely rotatable relative to the first eye but secured against axial movement relative thereto. The hinge pin and the second eye are formed with axially extending splines engaged therebetween, the splines forming an addendum circle diameter. Axially adjacent the splines, the hinge pin is formed with a cylindrical section which engages within a complementary cylindrical recess in the second eye, the cylindrical section having a diameter which is slightly greater than the addendum circle diameter of the splines.

Abstract: A butt hinge includes a first hinge plate with a pair of axially spaced outer gudgeons extending from an edge of the first hinge plate, a second hinge plate with a gudgeon formed of two axially spaced gudgeon sections extending from an edge of the second hinge plate between the outer gudgeons extending from the first hinge plate, and a hinge pin extending through the gudgeons of the first and second hinge plates for pivotally connecting the first and second hinge plates. The pin is fixed against rotation within the outer gudgeons of the first hinge plate, and a bearing bushing within each of the gudgeon sections of the second hinge plate supports the pin for rotational movement about its axis when the first hinge plate is pivotally moved relative to the second hinge plate.
