  • Patent number: 4697953
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the subsequent underground sealing of an area, preferably of dumps. With the method, it is possible to seal dumps underground. Working pipes are introduced from a region outside a dump body. The region of soil between the working pipes is loosened, and sealing material is then introduced into this region, which solidifies to become a sheet-like sealing compound. With this method, in particular existing dump bodies can be sealed subsequently underground, without having to drill through the dump body. The apparatus for carrying out the method has a loosening device, and a feed device for the sealing material. The two devices are able to move in the region between two adjacent working pipes.

  • Patent number: 4673312
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the underground installation of pipelines. The underground installation of pipelines is carried out by driving pipe sections into the ground. The earth is loosened at the driving face via a liquid jet, and the excess earth is transported away from the removal zone. Only so much of the earth that has been loosened and mixed with the liquid is removed, such that the removal zone is always completely filled with the earth-liquid mixture. The larger earth aggregates or obstructions in the ground are forced outwards. In this way, the driving face does not require any special support. A receiving device with entry orifices for the earth-liquid mixture is located behind a nozzle head provided for discharging the liquid jet. A sluice serves to pass the mixture into a removal pipe in a controlled manner.

  • Patent number: 4637586
Abstract: The invention relates to a form for producing concrete rails for rubber-tired vehicles which are guided on a track. In contrast to steel rails, concrete rails no longer bend after production, so that numerous different molds are required for curves, transition curves, super elevations, and the like. This drawback is avoided with the form according to the invention, wherein the form makes it possible to produce both straight rail sections, as well as rail sections having varying curvatures, using the same mold. As a result, the expenditure for rail forms is considerably reduced.

  • Patent number: 4623198
Abstract: A method for reducing compressed air losses when driving underground cavities which are supported by compressed air. The part of the inner cavity face exposed by mining is sealed by a viscous medium after breaking away the earth. With a supply of propellant, the viscous medium is applied, in the form of a spray mist which is directed toward the exposed part of the inner cavity face, in such a way that the mist penetrates the substratum without substantially destroying the exposed face. Particles of rock are thus prevented from being detached from the face which is to be sealed.

  • Patent number: 4538521
Abstract: The invention is directed to a recessible guide rail for guiding a wheel-supported vehicle along a roadway structure. The vehicle is equipped with flangeless wheels or the like for coacting with a side wall of the rail to laterally guide the vehicle along the roadway structure. It is necessary to remove the guide rail from time to time in order to realize the advantages of such a vehicle on its special rail-like roadway structure and on conventional roads. With the guide rail removed, it is possible to remove the laterally guided vehicle from its roadway structure. Also, it is possible to permit other vehicles to cross the special roadway structure of the guided vehicle. With the invention, supporting devices having lateral holding pockets which can be moved in elevation are installed where the guide rail is to be removable. Straight or curved guide rail segments which can be made of steel reinforced concrete are inserted into the pockets.
