Abstract: In a process for making a waterproof shoe, an upper and a waterproof lining unit with open top and bottom ends are prepared. The lining unit is placed within the upper, and the top ends of the upper and the lining unit are interconnected. A cover member is then attached to the bottom end of the upper to close the bottom end of the upper. After an outsole is attached to the bottom end of the upper, the lining unit is pulled out from the upper through the top end of the upper so that the bottom end of the lining unit moves away from the upper. The outsole is then sewn to the bottom end of the upper, thus forming a reinforcing sewing line that interconnects the outsole and the upper. Thereafter, the lining unit is re-inserted into the upper.

  • Publication number: 20040064972
Abstract: A shoe includes an upper with a first notched edge, an inner lining disposed inside the upper and having a second notched edge in alignment with the first notched edge, and a sock-like waterproof lining made of a waterproof breathable membrane and disposed between the upper and the inner lining. The waterproof lining has a third notched edge in alignment with the first notched edge. An elastic part spans the first, second and third notched edges, and has an outer layer and an inner layer both of which are elastic. The inner layer has a peripheral edge attached to the second notched edge to form an inner seam. The outer layer has a peripheral edge attached to the first notched edge to form an outer seam. The third notched edge is attached to one of the first and second notched edges along one of the inner and outer seams.

  • Publication number: 20030121174
Abstract: An insole includes an insole pad which has a toe section, a heel section and a shank section and which is constituted of top and bottom sheets heat sealed together. The top and bottom sheets confine therebetween a first air chamber in the toe section, a second air chamber in the heel section and an air passage in the shank section. The air passage is relatively narrower than the first and second air chambers. A compressible resilient member is disposed in the second air chamber so that, when the heel section is compressed and released, the second air chamber can act as an air pump to draw air into the first air chamber and force the air out of the first air chamber through vent holes formed in the toe section.
