Abstract: The present invention is directed to rapid and efficient methods of identifying therapeutic compounds by allowing only the most favorable molecules initially selected based on their physical-chemical profile falling within a range predefined by the physical-chemical/biological relationship of a previously tested small subset of compounds of same core structure to be assayed; and to the therapeutic compositions identified by said methods.

Abstract: 7,8-Bicyclic-chroman derivatives of Formula I: wherein the substituents are defined as in the specification or the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, are disclosed. They are useful for the treatment of inflammatory disorders, neurodegenerative disorders and/or mitochondrial disorders. They are also useful in the manufacture of pharmaceutical formulations for the treatment of such conditions.
Abstract: Methods of treating or suppressing mitochondrial diseases, such as Friedreich's ataxia (FRDA), Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON), mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactacidosis, stroke (MELAS), or Kearns-Sayre Syndrome (KSS) are disclosed, as well as compounds useful in the methods of the invention. Energy biomarkers useful in assessing the metabolic state of a subject and the efficacy of treatment are also disclosed.
