  • Patent number: 7127978
Abstract: A circular saw machine having a saw blade (1) that is movably held for back and forth motion during the sawing process. A forward and a rearward saw blade guide (4, 5) ensure the stability of the saw blade (1) while sawing. The saw blade guides (4, 5) respectively have contact surfaces (6), which abut on the respective side surfaces of the saw blade (1). In order to operate the circular saw machine with different saw blade diameters, the forward saw blade guide (5) is removable from, or pivotable away from, the saw blade (1), and the saw blade itself is interchangeable. The radial positioning of the contact surfaces (6) of the saw blade guides (4, 5) is variable. This can be accomplished by interchanging the whole saw blade guide (5), but also in particular by a mounting (12), pivotable with respect to the saw blade guide (4, 5) and to which the contact surface (6) is fixed.

  • Patent number: 6901832
Abstract: A method to remove pieces (14) cut off from bar-shaped workpiece material (5) by a cutting machine (1) is provided as well as an apparatus to carry out this process, wherein the piece (14) of the material (5) to be cut lies on a machine table (7) during cutting behind the cutting plane (8) in the direction of feed (9) of the material (5), is gripped between gripping jaws (12, 13) from behind the cutting plane (8) only. At the end of the cut, the cut off piece (14) is moved away from the cutting plane (8) by the gripping jaws (12, 13) in the material feed direction (9) and is tilted about an axis perpendicular to the material feed direction (9) such that its most recently cut surface is essentially horizontal and directed downward and that the piece (14) is then discharged by the gripping jaws (12, 13) by an essentially vertical motion downward onto an offload table (21).

  • Patent number: 6772749
Abstract: A band saw with a complex coordination of a tilting motion and a translational motion between the workpiece and the band saw blade, so that a curved cut is made in the workpiece. The geometric parameters of the cut can be continuously adjusted. This makes it possible to optimize a contact length of the saw blade in the workpiece, which is an important factor in the cutting process. It is thus possible to saw workpieces made of stone and similar materials that are typically difficult to cut. The cut and the contact length of the saw blade can be tailored individually to each workpiece to be sawed. Thus, workpieces of different geometrical dimensions and different material properties, in particular with different material hardnesses, can be processed using the band saw according to the invention without having to undertake significant changes.

  • Patent number: 6655252
Abstract: A conveyor device for miter-box saws which is arranged for movement horizontally perpendicular in relation to the direction of conveyance in order to be able to avoid any possible swivelling of the miter-box saw. • Publication number: 20020073818
Abstract: A band saw machine includes a saw band for severing a workpiece in a cutting plane; a saw band support for swinging the saw band into the cutting plane before each sawing step; clamping jaws disposed downstream of the cutting plane as viewed in the feed direction for clamping the workpiece undergoing sawing; and feed jaws for advancing the workpiece toward the cutting plane. The feed jaws are openable after closing the clamping jaws and before ending a sawing step, shiftable from the cutting plane to an extent of a successive work piece feed and closable for moving the workpiece against the feed direction away from the cutting plane after the sawing step. An arrangement shifts the saw band support away from and perpendicularly to the cutting plane toward the workpiece held spaced from and upstream of the cutting plane prior to retracting the saw band from the cutting plane.

  • Patent number: 5536129
Abstract: An apparatus for transferring long stock (3) from or to either of two storage racks (1) arranged in parallel to each other, to a processing station, such as a saw. The apparatus is located in an aisle (4) between the storage racks and has a pair of arms (18, 19, 20, 20a) arranged in a parallel linkage system. The arms are journalled on the apparatus for simultaneous pivotal movement. The free end of each pair of arms has a conveyor (9, 10) mounted thereon to extend in parallel and adjacent to the storage racks (1) between upper and lower positions which for each conveyor are substantially identical. A hoist is provided for loading long stock onto, and remove it from, either conveyor (9, 10) in its upper position. In the lower position either conveyor (9, 10) is aligned with a processing station.

  • Patent number: 5395200
Abstract: A gantry crane for storing (or removing) long cassettes containing rod-shaped material on (or from) racks for supporting such cassettes at both rack ends travels on rails raised above the bottom of an array of such racks, but only part way up to the tops of the racks which the crane bridges over with its traveling bridge. There are aisles between the parallel racks and each rack can be loaded on either of its sides. Load-lifting forks at each rack end can be lowered into an aisle from above and then, with a movement of the crane, inserted below a cassette on either side of the aisle to remove it, center it in the aisle, lift it above the racks and transport it to another aisle for lowering into a work place or storing it in a different place.

  • Patent number: 5347903
Abstract: A horizontal bandsaw is mounted in a tool carrier above a workpiece location. Before it starts cutting the bandsaw is tilted an angle between 3.degree. and 10.degree. and after the initial cut that angle is maintained during the rest of the cut until the intended depth of cut is reached or closely approached, when the saw tilt is removed as the structure containing the bandsaw is swung to orient the bandsaw horizontally. If the depth of cut is a complete cut through, the advantage of a minimum erosion of the center selvage of the workpiece support is assured. Mechanical limits are provided for the vertical displacement by tilt at one side of the workpiece and on that side one of the guides of the structure supporting the bandsaw has a hydraulic changeover control in which the angle of tilt is set by adjustable screw-stops which cooperate with stop plates mounted on the structure supporting the bandsaw.

  • Patent number: 5324156
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for storing and discharging rod-shaped workpieces of different lengths and types and for the automatic supply of, in particular, a cutting-off machine or a station for processing these workpieces under the control of a computer or the like, with at least one shelf system being provided that is equipped with shelf compartments. A hoist is provided for supplying the shelf system and for removing workpieces from the shelf system. The length of each incoming or outgoing workpiece is determined and the determined length value is appropriately stored in the computer. The length measurement is performed by a length measuring device for determining the distance of the front end faces of the workpieces from an abutment. The length measuring device includes a manually operated device that is operated with ultrasound, light or the like directed onto a wall in the region of the workpiece abutment.
