Patents Assigned to Edward S. Robbins, III
  • Patent number: 4921563
Abstract: A method is disclosed for making plastic products that enables adjacent portions thereof to be easily folded into juxtaposed relationship. A hinge is formed by utilizing an angled or curved cutting tool to create a continuous slit which in a preferred configuration (when viewed in profile) is generally L-shaped so that it extends from one surface of the product to a first location that is within the products' body and then extends therein from the first location to a second location also within the thickness of the body. The slit opens onto the one surface and thereby forms a flexible bridge integral with those portions of the product adjacent thereto, the bridge permitting such adjacent portions to be flexibly folded into juxtaposed relationship.

  • Patent number: 4881721
Abstract: A connector system for attaching one or more flexible fencing webs or rails to fence posts is provided. For each post, at least one elongated, flexible strand, preferably a plastic coated wire, is attached to the post in overlying relationship to the web or rail. The free ends of the strand are firmly fixed to the post by at least a pair of fasteners firmly driven into the post, straddling the strand. Additional fasteners are driven into the post, straddling the strand, at least adjacent upper and lower edges of the web or rail. These fasteners may be driven into the post to a lesser extent, so that the web or rail is constrained against substantially vertical movement, but free to move axially in the direction of its elongation. In one embodiment, the flexible strand comprises a single, plastic coated wire. In another embodiment, the strand comprises a pair of high tensile strength wires ensheathed in a single plastic strip.

  • Patent number: 4871264
Abstract: Bag closure devices include elongate male and female members each having a wall which is generally U-shaped in cross-sectional configuration and terminating in a pair of opposing, separated edge regions which define therebetween a slot extending the axial length of the members. The U-shaped walls of the male and female members are formed of a resilient, shape-retaining plastic material (e.g., PE) which permits the opposing edge regions to be resiliently displaced relative to one another so as to facilitate the entry of the male member into a generally cylindrical interior space defined by the female member when the two members are moved into frictional nested relationship. The male and female members are preferably interconnected to one another by an integral hinge which facilitates moving the same into such nested relationship. A locking member may optionally be provided so as to releasably lock the male and female members in their nested relationship.

  • Patent number: 4784888
Abstract: An improved plastic product that enables adjacent portions thereof to be easily folded into juxtaposed relationship. The product has at least one elongated hinge that extends between sides of the product in along the length and/or the width thereof. The hinge is formed by utilizing an angled or curved cutting tool to create a continuous slit which in a preferred configuration (when viewed in profile) is generally L-shaped so that it extends from one surface of the product to a first location that is within the products' body and then extends therein from the first location to a second location also within the thickness of the body. The slit opens onto the one surface and thereby forms a flexible bridge integral with those portions of the product adjacent thereto, the bridge permitting such adjacent portions to be flexibly folded into juxtaposed relationship.

  • Patent number: 4765579
Abstract: A trash bag liner retaining and air venting device is attachable to a trash receptacle. The device includes a rim adapted to being removably secured to a top of a trash receptacle such that an upper region of a flexible liner is drapable thereover. A locking ring is provided which receives the rim in nested relationship and thus captures the liner therebetween. Preferably, an integral hinge joins the rim and the locking ring so that the latter is capable of pivotal movements relative to the former. Thus, the locking ring and the rim are movable into and out of engagement with one another to respectively positionally capture and release the liner.

  • Patent number: 4715572
Abstract: A bag retaining and air venting device that is attachable to a trash receptacle. This device has at least one channel that preferably has a generally U-shaped, V-shaped or similarly shaped interior cross-section. In addition, includes means for firmly retaining a plastic bag liner in place with a trash or other receptacle and means for venting air from between the bag liner and the sidewall of the receptacle.
