  • Publication number: 20220022758
Abstract: The disclosure provides wearable cardiac arrest detection and alerting device that incorporates a non-invasive sensor based on optical and/or electrical signals transmitted into and received from human tissue containing blood vessels, and that transcutaneously quantifies the wearer's heart rate. The heart-rate quantification enables the detection of the absence of any heart beat by the wearable detection and alerting device indicative of the occurrence of a cardiac arrest, wherein the heart is no longer achieving effective blood circulation in the individual wearing the device. The display on the wearable cardiac arrest detection and alerting device may include the elapsed time since the time of detection of a heart rate that is below a predetermine lower limit value, i.e., the detected occurrence of a cardiac arrest event.

  • Publication number: 20170130965
Abstract: An isothermal cooking plate assembly is formed from a first plate of high thermal conductivity material having a back surface and an oppositely disposed top cooking surface. One or more heater circuit assemblies are disposed on the first plate back surface for forming a composite having a back surface. A controller is in electrical connection with the heater circuit assemblies for controlling temperature of the first plate of high thermal conductivity material. The first plate can be substantially pure one or more aluminum, substantially pure copper, or aluminum nitride. The first plate can be a laminate formed from a clad bottom metal layer and clad top cooking surface metal layer, where the clad layers formed from the same material and having about the same thickness. The clad material can be austenitic stainless steel. A second plate of low thermal conductivity material can be attached to the composite back surface.

  • Patent number: 5891142
Abstract: Surgical forceps which are configured having oppositely disposed tissue grasping surfaces at the tip regions of corresponding tines. An electrically insulative spacer assembly is positioned on and supported from at least one of the tissue grasping surfaces to space the tissue contacting surfaces apart an optimized distance, T, when the tines are in a substantially closed orientation. A preferred, strip form of spacer assembly formed of an electrically insulative material is employed and improved current paths are defined between the grasping surfaces to derive an efficient and effective hemostasis substantially without sticking of tissue to the surfaces. The geometric configuration of the spacer regions functions to enhance cleanability of the forceps and the tines of the forceps additionally are formed with side and nose surfaces at the tip regions having effective side surface current delivery areas improving forceps performance when used in a coagulative painting modality.

  • Patent number: 5392319
Abstract: System and apparatus for producing neutron beams having an energy spectrum and intensity suitable for use in neutron capture therapy. The apparatus employs a rotating carriage which supports an annular target support region carrying a target material such as lithium metal. The carriage rotatably positions the target material before the pathway of charged particles generated from an accelerator course of ions. To cool the assemblage, the carriage is formed having an internally disposed chamber within which a coolant is directed from an external source. Because of the centrifugal forces imposed upon this internally-disposed coolant, it is forced to a heat exchange position adjacent the target region. The assemblage of carriage and accelerator are retained within a containment chamber under vacuum.
