  • Patent number: 8468666
Abstract: An apparatus for separating from a mandrel a shell snugly surrounding the mandrel has a base, a frame fixed on the base, and a holder on the base forward of the frame and adapted to support the shell surrounding the mandrel with an end of the mandrel juxtaposed with the frame. At least two stripper jaws on the frame can move radially of the mandrel of the shell on the frame between outer positions spaced radially outward from the shell and inner positions engageable with the shell. An extractor slide can shift longitudinally on the base rearward of the frame and carries a gripper extendable through the frame to grasp the end of the mandrel. The slide can shift the gripper axially away from the frame to brace the shell axially through the jaws against the frame and pull the mandrel out of the shell.

  • Patent number: 8048248
Abstract: An apparatus for winding a fiber strand onto a bobbin having a longitudinal axis has a support holding the bobbin for rotation about the axis, a supply for feeding the fiber strand in a travel direction generally radially or tangentially to the bobbin, and a drive for rotating the bobbin about the longitudinal axis and for, when a fiber strand is engaged with the bobbin, winding the fiber strand onto the bobbin. A handling device is rotatable about the axis adjacent the bobbin and carries a strand layer for at a start of a winding operation moving into a predetermined angular position and pressing a leading end of the fiber strand against the bobbin. The handler also carries a cutter on the handling device for at an end of a winding operation cutting the fiber strand and thereby forming a trailing end attached to the bobbin and a new leading end.

  • Patent number: 7832235
Abstract: An apparatus for winding a fiber strand onto a former, wherein there is provided a separating means for fixing and separating the fiber strand at the end of an operation of winding on a finish-wound first former and for bringing the fixed fiber-strand end to a second former to be wound in order to begin a new winding operation. At least one thread buffer for temporary storage of a fiber-strand portion between the end of one winding operation and the beginning of a new winding operation is disposed upstream from the separating means in the feed direction.

  • Patent number: 7451795
Abstract: A system and process for separating and linking composite fibers, fiber bundles and the like in a filament winding installation (10) for the manufacture of rotationally symmetric wound packages (70) has a feeding device (11) for a fiber strand (12) impregnated with a matrix material which is wound on a rotatably driven base element (20). The system has at least one separating device (30) for cutting the fiber strand (12) and contacting the package-sided end (13) of the fiber strand (12) on the completed wound package (70). Also provided is at least one binding device (50) for linking the free end (14) of the fiber strand (12) with an adjacent new non-wound base element (20).

  • Patent number: 6962334
Abstract: A delivery device for stacking cut flat articles such as rotary cross cut sheets has a braking table downstream of a sheet feeder which is provided with two counterrotating disks which are perforated and communicate with suction passages on the table beneath the disks to brake the sheets as they are supplied to a stacker. At the edge of this table, there is a broad slit nozzle directing a sheet of air upwardly onto the underside of the sheets which are delivered to the stacker.

  • Publication number: 20050211811
Abstract: An apparatus for winding a plurality of threads onto a former, wherein the apparatus has at least one ring traverse that at least partly surrounds the former. Via the ring traverse, threads are fed to the former from a plurality of different feed directions. With each feed direction there is associated at least one transfer element, from which the at least one thread is taken up on the former. The distance to the former axis is adjustable at least for some of the transfer elements.
