Abstract: The present invention provides a tensioning apparatus for a string of a stringed instrument, the apparatus including a supporting body portion for releasable engagement between a string and a surface of the neck of the stringed instrument at a fret on the fret board, thereby to raise the string relative to the fret on the fret board; the apparatus further including a biasing element by which lateral tension may be applied to the string.
