Abstract: Nonwoven fabrics may be fashioned as topical delivery systems with increased and controllable rate of product release, while still possessing the requisite strength and durability for mass production and distribution. Such delivery systems comprise fabrics that are fashioned from micro-denier fibers that are produced by fibrillating bicomponent island-in-the-sea fibers. Facial masks made from these fabrics can achieve adequate product delivery in 3-5 minutes or less.

Abstract: A delayed release delivery system comprises a hydrophilic core particle having surface pores and containing a liquid. The particle is encapsulated in a polymer having a hydrophobic backbone and hydrophilic pendant groups. At least some of the surface pores adjacent the hydrophilic pendant groups are blocked in the presence of water and unblocked in the absence of water. The treated particle contains liquid in a weight ratio of the liquid to the porous core particle of at least 400:1.
Abstract: Topical film forming compositions that are able to efficiently deliver active ingredients to keratinic surfaces in a timed release manner comprise a combination of acrylates copolymer and acrylates/VA copolymer, and a combination of propane-1,3 diol and glycerin. The sizes of the pores that develop in the dried film may be controlled or fine tuned.

Abstract: A cosmetic product container may include a cap body having first and second ends and defining a cap cavity, a cap liner operably coupled with the cap body and being movable along a length thereof, a resilient member operably coupled with one of the cap body or the cap liner, and a coupling protrusion operably coupled with the other of the cap line or the cap body. In response to moving the cap body relative to the cap liner in a first direction, the resilient member slidably engages the coupling protrusion and moves to an energized position. Continued movement of the cap body relative to the cap liner causes the resilient member to urge the cap body in the first direction.

Abstract: An applicator system for containing and dispensing a cosmetic product may include a body including a first end, a second end, and defining an interior cavity, a container at least partially disposed within the cavity of the body and defining a cavity containing a cosmetic substance, a sifter positioned adjacent to the container to retain the cosmetic substance within the cavity, a handle having first and second ends and defining an interior cavity, an inner handle positioned at the first end of the handle, and an applicator. The first end of the handle operably couples with the first end of the body. The inner handle includes an applicator coupling mechanism to which the applicator operably couples. Upon operably coupling the first ends of the body and the handle, the applicator is positioned adjacent to the sifter, thereby collecting a quantity of cosmetic substance.

Abstract: Photostabilizing compounds are provided. In particular, the photostabilizing compound may be heterocyclic or homocyclic. Topical compositions comprising these photostabilizing compounds are also provided. In particular, these topical compositions further comprise photoactive compounds. Methods for stabilizing photoactive compounds are also provided. These methods comprise mixing the photoactive compounds with the photostabilizing compounds.
Abstract: A cosmetic product container and retention mechanism include a cup including a cup body and a ring and a cosmetic substance. The cup body has first and second ends and an inner sidewall forming a cup cavity. The inner sidewall includes a first positioning notch. The ring is at least partially disposed within the cup cavity adjacent to the first positioning notch and includes an inner ring surface and defines a ring cavity. The ring is constructed from a compressible material that is positionable in a first, expanded configuration and a second, compressed configuration. The cosmetic substance has first and second ends and an elongated body therebetween. At least a portion of the elongated body is disposed within the ring cavity. Upon disposing at least a portion of the cosmetic substance within the ring cavity, the ring is adapted to apply a retaining force thereto.
Abstract: Approaches for manufacturing an applicator and corresponding applicators for applying a cosmetic substance are provided that may include forming an applicator body, an applicator head, and a detachable shield. The applicator body includes a first end and a second end. The applicator head is operably coupled with the first end of the applicator body and includes an outer surface. The detachable shield being removably coupled with the applicator head. The outer surface of the applicator head is segmented into an exposed portion outside of the detachable shield and a shielded portion within the detachable shield. The approach further includes applying a surface treatment to the outer surface of the applicator head and removing the detachable shield from the applicator head. Upon removing the detachable shield, the shielded portion is free of the surface treatment.
