Abstract: A handheld electronic personal care device (with or without an applicator head) comprising a fast charging capacitor, and one or more electric load elements. The device may or may not be designed for use with one or more personal care compositions. Examples of load elements include heating and cooling elements, electric motors, sound and light elements, data storage and processing elements.
Abstract: A heating applicator kit for mascara or other products that tend to dry out or be adversely affected when heated. A kit comprises multiple reservoirs of product and at least one heating applicator that alleviates the problems associated with heat exposure in the reservoir and on the applicator head.

Abstract: The present invention relates to topical compositions containing solid particles that are stabilized via encapsulation into a cross-linked silicone matrix. The solid particles are preferably formed of a metal oxide, such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, and the cross-linked silicone matrix is preferably formed by cross-linking a silicone having branched reactive alkoxyl moieties in the presence of a stannous carboxylate cross-linking agent. The stabilized particles of the present invention can readily be used either alone or in combination with other skin care actives to form topical compositions with improved stability and performance.
Abstract: A rigid low cost cosmetic container is provided wherein the basic elements, a tubular container and an applicator wand, are integrally formed as a unitary body. The wand extends inwardly from the top of the container into a product reservoir to form of an applicator end. The wand extends upwardly from the top end of the container to form a handle which may be provided in dimensions approximating the cap on a saleable package. The container and wand are separated by a frangible connection in the top end of the container. The bottom margin of the container sidewall is provided with a substantially reduced thickness to permit the container to be pinched and hermetically sealed after the product reservoir is filled with a quantity of product.
Abstract: A skin care composition comprising at least one keratinocyte CLOCK or PER1 gene activator and at least one DNA repair enzyme; a method for inhibiting damage to human keratinocytes due to environmental aggressors by applying a composition comprising at least one keratinocyte CLOCK or PER1 gene activator and at least one DNA repair enzyme; and a method for repairing DNA damage in human keratinocytes.

Abstract: An applicator head for cosmetic products such as mascara is described. The applicator head has at least two arched supports, each with and outwardly directed applicator surface. The arched supports surround a clearance and define a relatively large, expanded configuration for loading and application purposes. The arched supports flex inwardly, into the clearance, so that the expanded configuration can collapse to permit the applicator head to be drawn through a relatively smaller wiper opening. The applicator head can be used in stock packaging.
Abstract: A mascara brush includes bristles made from shape memory polymer (SMP) filaments. The SMP filaments are selected to exhibit a first shape during assembly of the brush, and a second shape after exposure to an external stimulus in the form of heat or other energy. During assembly, the SMP filaments are clamped between wire segments twisted to form a core. The first shape can be straight to facilitate assembly of the fibers in the wire core. The second shape, after assembly in the core and after being subjected to the external stimulus, can be any bristle shape suitable for enhancing the function of the brush, e.g., kinked, wavy or coiled. The brush head may be made solely of SMP filaments, or may be a blend of SMP filaments and any other suitable filament (e.g., nylon, natural plant or animal fibers, etc.).
Abstract: A sifter insert for the neck of a powder jar is secured above the product reservoir and below the cap of the jar. The insert has a central concave dish for supporting a quantity of powder product, and a channel around the perimeter of the dish. The insert is secured in the neck such that the dish is spaced below the bottom of the cap. Slots in the channel permit the flow of powder from the reservoir into the channel when the jar is inverted with the cap closed, and from the channel onto the dish when the inverted jar is righted. Powder in the dish is accessed by the user upon removal of the cap. The cap is then closed and the jar shaken to return excess powder from the dish to the reservoir through the slots in the channel.
Abstract: A mascara applicator with vibrating applicator head. The head is caused to vibrate in a controlled manner through electromechanical urging. The frequency, amplitude and geometry of the vibrating head are sufficient to significantly alter the rheological properties of thixotropic and anti-thixotropic mascara compositions, including an effect that persists after the vibration has stopped. The device allows the mascara to be manipulated for improved results, greater flexibility in formulation, benefits in manufacture, as well as other benefits.
