  • Patent number: 10895708
Abstract: A connector is employed for bonding a locatable tracer wire with a lead wire. A base has a first receiving slot and an axial slot which intersects the receiving slot. A contact plate is slidably receivable in the axial slot and is dimensioned to accommodate a tracer wire and an insulator cover received in the receiving slot at a first axial position and to sever the cover and conductively engage the tracer at a second axial position. A fastener threadably engages the base. Upon tightening the fastener to the base, a shoulder extending from the contact plate is displaced and ultimately stopped so that the plate is disposed at the second position. The lead wire is also secured by the fastener.

  • Patent number: 10436993
Abstract: A fiber optic cable external shield connector grounds a fiber optic cable having both a corrugated conductive shield and a strength member without removal of the outer protective layer of the fiber optic cable. The connector has a grounding cover and a cooperative grounding base each with an electrically conductive grounding assembly having an array of prongs. Bosses of the cover and bosses of the base are fastened together to force the prongs of the conductive assembly to pierce the outer non-conductive sheath of the fiber optic cable. The prongs cooperatively pinch the strength member to ultimately connect the corrugated shield and strength member to an outside ground.

  • Patent number: 10007081
Abstract: A strain relief for a buffer tube employs a plurality of spline-like grippers which are angularly positionable about the buffer tube. The grippers each have an outwardly projecting retainer loop. A cable tie having a strap is passed through the loops and through a one-way catch to secure the spline-like grippers to the buffer tube. The ends of the grippers function as an engagement end to prevent the buffer tube from pulling back from an enclosure.

  • Patent number: 9728354
Abstract: An isolating ground switch includes an enclosure with a frontal surface. A slide channel opens through the top of the enclosure. A conductive switch plate is received in the channel and is bi-directionally slidably positionable between the first position and the second position. A plurality of terminal studs project forwardly from the frontal surface of the enclosure and rearwardly conductively communicate with a conductive portion. When the switch plate is in the first position, the conductive portion engages the switch plate. When the switch plate is in the second position, the conductive portion is isolated from the switch plate.

  • Patent number: 9557509
Abstract: A fiber optic external shield connector for grounding a fiber optic cable. The external shield connector is irreversibly mounted to the fiber optic cable using traditional tools. Prongs on the inside of the shield connector puncture the outer non-conductive sheath of the fiber optic cable. The external shield connector is compatible with fiber optics cables having different diameters. The prongs are arranged to complement the geometry of the fiber optic cables for the specific application. The prongs contact an inner conductive sheath of the cable and connect the conductive sheath electrically to an outside ground. This engagement does not expose the internal portions of the fiber optic cable to outside elements such as moisture.

  • Patent number: 9067710
Abstract: A remotely openable containment system employs a bag which receives contents such as grounding cement and employs a closure member which is secured by a bale. The closure member is attached to one end of the bag adjacent an opening. End portions of the bag are wound around the closure member and secured by the bale. The bale may include a pair of laterally spaced pins which are received in spaced bores of the closure member. At the installation site, the bag is lowered by a line into a hole. At the bottom of the hole, a line on the bale is pulled to release the bale and to permit the contents to discharge through the opening in the bag. Both the bag and the bale are removable from the hole by the attached lines.

  • Patent number: 8820698
Abstract: A break-away hook assembly is adapted for installation for use with a low-voltage residential communication cable. A pair of members is coupled. One of the members has a connector with a terminal portion which receives a terminus of the other member. The connector breaks to release the second member from coupled engagement with the first member so that upon application of a stress in excess of a pre-established load, the cable will sag while maintaining the communication integrity of the cable.

  • Patent number: 8651891
Abstract: A hot line clamp employs a pair of jaw members which have clamp surfaces. The jaw members are coupled under the load of a compression spring. One jaw member has a ring which allows for relative angular positioning so that a clamp surface of the jaw member engages a shoulder of the second jaw member in a cocked position. When a torque is applied to the ring, the clamp members snap together to clamp over a hot line disposed between the clamp surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6702596
Abstract: A cable shield ground connector includes an inner part and outer part clamped together by means of a threaded stud carried by the inner part engaged by a nut. The inner part defines a smoothly tapered, arcuate, conductor-receiving trough portion configured for insertion between the conductors of a service cable and the cable shield. A threaded stud and tang project from the inner part in a direction opposite from the opening defined by the trough portion. A plurality of teeth project integrally from fillets of the outer part in parallel rows to define a jacket-gripping portion of the outer part. The channel-shaped outer part defines a guide for receiving the tang of the inner part. The stud passes through an aperture defined by the web of the outer part and the tang is received in the guide, thereby assuring longitudinal alignment of the inner and outer connector parts.
