The voltage control system includes: a data set including a previously measured power consumption associated with previously measured values of a property(ies) being one of voltage, current, frequency or load, or a combination thereof, a measuring device to measure the property(ies) within the portion of the grid, a processing device to determine a most likely effect of altering the value(s) of the property(ies) from a first value to a second value, a storage device for storing one or more rules associating a trigger event with a response action associated with the substation, and a control device to receive a measurement of the property(ies) within the portion of the grid.

Abstract: There is provided a method of improving an electrical link box. The method includes steps of opening the electrical link box to provide access to a space within the electrical link box; inserting an electrical link box safety improving container into the space in the electrical link box; and closing the electrical link box; wherein the electrical link box safety improving container contains a filling material for mitigating blasts in the electrical link box. A safer electrical link box may be provided using the method.

Abstract: A control system for and a method of fault isolation and electrical power restoration on an electrical network are provided and comprise: a plurality of electrical power supply facilities connectable to a region of a network, the region comprising a plurality of segments, and each segment being connectable to one or more neighbouring segments by a respective switching device; and the method including the steps of: detecting a fault condition within the region; operating the plurality of switching devices connecting the segments within the region so as to disconnect those segments from one another; performing a reconnection routine for each of a plurality of reconnection zones, being run concurrently.
