  • Patent number: 6984915
Abstract: A slip ring and a method for manufacturing a slip ring utilizes a first double clad copper laminate with a first side and a second side separated by a first dielectric and a second double clad copper laminate with a third side and a fourth side separated by a second dielectric. Copper is selectively removed from the second and third sides to provide desired patterns in the copper. The second and third sides are joined in a desired orientation. Substantially, all of the copper from a window in the first and fourth sides is removed to expose the first and second dielectrics. A plurality of concentric grooves is machined into the first and second dielectrics from the first and fourth sides and the concentric grooves are metalized to provide a plurality of concentric metalized rings.

  • Patent number: 6437656
Abstract: A conductive slip ring system functions to transfer information electrically between a moving frame and a stationary frame. The conductive slip ring system includes a conductive transmission line and a conductive probe. The conductive transmission line is attached to the stationary frame or the moving frame. The conductive transmission line includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the first portion is coupled to a first terminator. The second end of the first portion is coupled to a signal source through a first reflection path impedance matching resistor. The second portion includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the second portion is coupled to a second terminator and the second end of the second portion is coupled to the signal source through a second reflection path impedance matching resistor.

  • Patent number: 6246810
Abstract: An optical slip ring system provides for the transfer of information between a rotating frame and a stationary frame. The optical slip ring system includes a modulated light source, an optical fiber ring for receiving modulated light from the modulated light source and a signal conditioner. The modulated light source is attached to either the rotating frame or the stationary frame. The optical fiber ring is attached to the opposite frame. The optical fiber ring includes a first optical fiber and a second optical fiber. The first and second optical fibers each include a first and second end. The first end of the first optical fiber is coupled to a first terminator and the second end of the first optical fiber is coupled to a detector. The first end of the second optical fiber is coupled to a second terminator and the second end of the second optical fiber is coupled to the detector. The signal conditioner is coupled to the detector and restores data edges of the transferred information using an external clock.
