Abstract: In a device and method for predicting a future muzzle velocity of an indirect fire weapon 3, 7 means 9, 11 responsive to a measurement of muzzle velocity are adapted to implement an adaptive empirical prediction method to predict the future muzzle velocity. The invention also relates to an aiming system and method for an indirect-fire weapon 3, 7. The system comprises a muzzle velocity measuring device 5, and predictor means 9, 11 responsive to an output of the muzzle velocity measuring device 5 for determining a new elevation setting from the weapon. Preferably, the predictor means utilizes an adaptive empirical prediction method such as a Kalman Filter or neural network.
Abstract: This apparatus operates to discern temporal and spatial anomalies in the use of subscriber numbers in the cellular mobile telephone system. The detection of such anomalies is typically indicative of attempted fraudulent access to the cellular mobile telephone system via cloning of valid subscriber numbers. The detection of a bogus subscriber unit is accomplished by recording the call origination and termination patterns associated with the subscriber number. The cloning detection apparatus makes use of call origination data to identify concurrent call originations or receptions for a single subscriber number. However, such events represent only a small portion of the fraudulent calls and a more extensive analysis is typically required to identify subscriber number cloning. This further analysis includes a spatial analysis of successive call activity for a subscriber number.
Abstract: A computer performed method for designing a system which allows multiple mainframe environments to be supported and managed within the overall system environment through the use of (1) one or more dictionary domains arranged in a hierarchy to model the mainframe environments and a target system release facility to move a process, system, subsystem or record and all its related records to another dictionary domain, and (2) a consolidated project data encyclopedia which is shared by all users and divided into 5 logical data bases and 1 access module, thus allowing access to projects in different stages of development on the same physical data bases. A migration facility allows the user to manage the orderly progression of entities through the development life cycle by moving entities between logical data bases.
Abstract: A remote monitoring apparatus comprises a computer program controlled monitor for detecting changes in condition responsive relay switches to generate a data signal identifying the change of switch condition, a report assembler which prepares a report in a preselected format identifying the apparatus location and including the data signal generated, and a modem for automatically transmitting the assembled report to a selected number of remote locations connected with the monitoring site by a telecommunication network. The monitoring apparatus repeatedly accesses the telecommunication network until a successful communication has been transmitted to each remote location. The apparatus also senses the loss of a continuous, primary power source and includes a back-up power supply. The program limits the number of unsuccessful attempts which can be made with the back-up power supply and preserves the assembled reports for later transmission when power has been fully restored.
Abstract: A local area network (10) includes a communications switch multi-port selector (12) which functions as the hub of the network. There are connected to the selector (12) various types of stations (14, 16) and terminals (18, 20, 22 and 24) which utilize a common communication format such as ASCII. The network further includes a computer (52) which uses a communication format that is incompatible with the stations and terminals connected to the port selector (12). Protocol converters (30, 32, 34 and 36) are connected between the port selector (12) and the computer (52) to provide translation between the communication formats of the computer (52) and the various stations (14, 16) and terminals (18, 20, 22, 24). A computer (54) is further provided which is connected to the port selector (12) and utilizes the communication format of the stations and terminals.
Abstract: A device for the purpose of providing computerized direction and control in the process of manually sorting documents. A sorting bin is provided containing compartments into which documents are placed to effect the sort. The sorting bin is contained within a sorting console which also houses a power supply; an indicator and document detector array; a control unit which monitors the document detectors, operates the indicators, and communicates with a computer; and control switches and indicators. An operator sorts documents by depositing them one at a time into a selected compartment of the sorting bin. The control unit, under computer direction, indicates to the operator the correct compartment for depositing each document, by illuminating indicators associated with the proper compartment. Document detectors inform the control unit when a document is deposited in any compartment. When a document is deposited in an incorrect compartment, an alarm alerts the operator.

Abstract: The specification discloses a system for displaying a cumulative indication of the estimated cost of electrical usage in a dwelling wherein electricity is applied through an electrical supply main. A coil is inductively coupled to the supply main for generating a signal representative of the magnitude of current passing through the supply main into the dwelling. The signal is rectified and amplified and is applied to an analog-to-digital converter which periodically samples the signal to generate digital signals. Input switches are operable by the consumer in order to provide a rate indication representative of the cost of the electricity flowing through the supply main. A calculator circuit is responsive to the digital signals from the analog-to-digital converter and is responsive to the rate indication from the input switches in order to periodically calculate an estimated cost of electricity passing through the supply main at the time of sampling during a preceding period.
