Abstract: A audible alarm device (AAD) having: a housing extending axially upwardly and radially outwardly, and having an axial bottom portion and an axial top portion, the top portion having a smoke chamber defined by: a top surface that is planar and having a first diameter, a bottom surface separating the top portion from the bottom portion, the bottom surface being planar and having a second diameter that is larger than the first diameter, a side surface connecting the top and bottom surfaces, and a circumferential opening in the side surface providing fluid egress to the smoke chamber, a piezo sounder disposed in the smoke chamber, radially centered within the top portion and axially proximate the top surface of the top portion, the piezo sounder configured to direct sound to the bottom surface.
Abstract: A manual call point (MCP) (130) is provided and includes a housing (210), a frangible element (220) disposed on the housing (210) to be accessible to and operable by a user and a control system (120). The control system (120) is disposed within the housing (210). The control system (120) includes a detector (232) configured to detect frangible element (220) operations, a sensor (233) configured to measure forces applied to the frangible element (220) and a processing unit (234) configured to initiate an alarm responsive to the detector (232) detecting a frangible element (220) operation, to determine whether the measured forces are indicative of an event and to generate a report in accordance with determination results.
Abstract: Disclosed is a hazard detection system having: a visual alarm device (VAD) including a VAD controller which is an electronic controller, the VAD controller controlling a plurality of implements within the VAD including a light source, and a luminosity sensor with which the VAD controller is configured to perform a VAD health test to confirm that a plurality of parameters of the light source meet or exceed threshold requirements, the plurality of parameters including luminous intensity and luminous profile, wherein the VAD is configured to perform steps including: monitoring for a trigger event to perform the VAD health test, the trigger event including the occurrence of an alarm a condition; activating the light source upon determining that the trigger event has occurred; monitoring the plurality of parameters to determine whether the light source meets or exceeds threshold requirements, and communicating an outcome of the VAD health test.
