Patents Assigned to Electronics Data Systems Corporation
  • Patent number: 7408440
Abstract: A system for analyzing information relating to network devices comprises a computer readable storage medium and computer software stored on the computer readable storage medium. The computer software reviews message information generated by a plurality of network devices, stores event records associating events from the message information with the plurality of network devices, determines whether two or more duplicate events are within a time window, assigns a weighting value to at least some of the events, excluding at least some of the duplicate events in response to determining that the duplicate events are within the time window, calculates a total value for one of the plurality of network devices using the weighting values, and generates a report according to the total values calculated for the network devices.

  • Patent number: 7055042
Abstract: A system (8) for synchronizing a user password between mainframe (10) and alternative (11, 12) computer operating environments includes a mainframe access module (20) that receives a current user password from an associated mainframe client computer (22) and provides a user with access to selected applications or data in the mainframe operating environment (10) according to the current user password. The mainframe access module (20) also receives a new user password in response to providing the access and communicates the new user password. A mainframe platform (14, 16, 18) coupled to the mainframe access module (20) receives the new user password, stores the new user password, and communicates the new user password. A messaging platform (24, 26, 28) coupled to the mainframe platform receives the new user password from the mainframe platform (14, 16, 18) and communicates a broadcast message containing the new user password.

  • Patent number: 6938007
Abstract: In one aspect, an automated method is provided for updating cost data for a software application in a maintenance environment. The method includes collecting functional metrics data and determining a composite index. A maintainability index is calculated, and an average cost per full-time equivalent is recorded. A maintenance unit cost is then calculated from the composite index, the maintainability index, and the average cost per full-time equivalent. In another aspect, an automated method is provided for computing cost of a software application in an enhancement environment. The method includes collecting functional metrics data, determining a composite, and calculating a maintainability index. An average cost per full-time equivalent is recorded, and a size of the application in function points is estimated. An enhancement unit cost is then calculated from the composite index, the maintainability index, the average cost per full-time equivalent, and the estimated function point size.

  • Patent number: 6134545
Abstract: One aspect of the invention is a method for processing a query. The method comprises receiving a query requesting at least one specific attribute of selected ones of a plurality of objects satisfying a query criteria. The query is directed to a database containing state data for the plurality of objects. A data structure is generated in response to the query, the data structure comprising, for each object satisfying the query criteria, each specific attribute requested by the query and the identifier of the object, even if the identifier of the object was not requested as a specific attribute in the query.

  • Patent number: 6041362
Abstract: A method and system for integrating disparate information technology applications and platforms across an enterprise provides a web client interface that associates with an enterprise network. Connecting with the web client through the network is the Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) server that includes a Common Gateway Interface (CGI) interface program for augmenting the integration of the disparate applications and platforms via remote and local applications execution. The HTTP server is specific to the particular enterprise for specifically dealing with application servers and information servers and further for collecting information and gathering it together into a form that is then displayed on the web client.
