Abstract: The network system of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing radio system measures a quality of a signal from a user terminal. At least one compared property of the signal is compared with a predetermined threshold. The comparison includes a comparison involving the measured quality. A number of sub-channels for the user terminal is decreased if each comparison operation indicates that a compared property is at the predetermined threshold or within a predetermined range of the threshold. A control signal about a decrease is transmitted to the user terminal. The user terminal transmits with the decreased number of sub-channels as a response to the control signal.

  • Publication number: 20090247090
Abstract: The transmitter receives information on a computing architecture of a receiver. A controller in the transmitter forms and transmits receiver-specific instructions based on data to be delivered and the information on the computing architecture. The controller in the receiver controls processing of the data on the basis of the instructions.

  • Publication number: 20090227249
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, a base station and a computer program for selecting a spatial transmission method for a next downlink transmission in a base station. The base station can be a WiMAX, a UMTS or a 3GPP LTE base station. According to the invention the base station makes a selection between beamforming (BF), space-time coding (STC) or MIMO for a next downlink frame. The selection is based on uplink measurements and feedback information from a particular mobile station whereto the next downlink frame is to be transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20090154374
Abstract: A method and devices are provided for communicating configuration management notifications from a network element to a network manager in a packet-switched network. The configuration information of the network element is stored at different time instants having a time interval therebetween. Two sets of configuration information are compared in order to determine changes between the two time instants. The changes are then transmitted to the network manager through a communication connection by using a file-based configuration protocol.

  • Publication number: 20090005120
Abstract: A method and base station arrangement by which broadcast info messages can be transmitted using cyclic delays and a beamformer to the whole cell simultaneously. In the method during the broadcast info transmission cyclic delays are introduced to the transmitted symbols before the symbols are fed to a beamformer. The delayed symbols are transmitted using antennas connected to the beamformer. By utilizing cyclic delays dead zones can be avoided in the cell or sector. The method can be utilized for example in WiMAX, WiFi, UMTS or 3rd LTE networks.
