Patents Assigned to Elf Atochem N.A., Inc.
  • Patent number: 6069208
Abstract: A crosslinkable composition of a polymeric thermoplastic and/or elastomeric material which is susceptible to scorching when processed at elevated temperatures, prior to crosslinking, in the presence of a free radical initiator, is protected against such scorching by the incorporation therein of a mixture of at least one hydroquinone compound and a sulfur accelerator. This mixture may also contain at least one monomeric allylic, methacrylic, acrylic or diene type coagent. The mixture exhibits a synergistic effect resulting in improved scorch protection for peroxide cured systems when compared with the protection afforded by the components singly.

  • Patent number: 5453175
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved method for electroplating chromium, using lead anodes, while achieving the advantages of using methanesulfonic acid without suffering the excessive anode-corrosion characteristics associated with that acid. Accordingly, chromium is electrodeposited from a bath containing chromic acid, sulfate ion and an alkylpolysulfonic acid containing from one to about three carbon atoms. The preferred alkylpolysulfonic acid is methanedisulfonic acid.

  • Patent number: 5430180
Abstract: Propanone-1,3-disulfonic acid (acetone disulfonic acid) may be prepared by reacting chlorosulfonic acid with acetone preferably in the presence of a solvent for the reactants, such as methylene chloride, although a neat reaction is possible. The reactants and reaction conditions prior to separation should be substantially anhydrous, but water may be added after reaction to separate the product as an aqueous solution.

  • Patent number: 5318851
Abstract: Curable compositions which are precursors for cured or partially cured light stabilized epoxy resins which are the product of the reaction of some or all of the epoxy groups of an epoxy resin with an N-(2,2,6,6-tetraalkyl-4-piperidinyl)amic acid hydrazide as well as the cured or partially cured reaction products thereof together with processes for their use and articles of manufacture produced thereby are disclosed.
