Patent number: 7243864Abstract: A radio controlled liquid monitor, capable of rotation about a vertical axis through an infinite arc is disclosed. A rotatable body is rotatably mounted onto a base element for rotation about a vertical axis, and a discharge elbow is rotatably mounted on the rotatable body for rotation about a horizontal axis. A horizontal drive unit and a vertical drive unit operate on gears on the rotatable body and the elbow, to enable the rotatable body to rotate about a vertical axis, and the discharge elbow to rotate about a horizontal axis. A control module is attached to the rotatable body which receives radio control commands from an operator via a portable transmitter apparatus or a fixed transmitter apparatus. The control module and drive unit receive electrical power and control signals through a rotating connector positioned within the base element and rotatable body so that the control module and drive units receive electrical power and control signals regardless of the rotational position of the rotatable body.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 2005Date of Patent: July 17, 2007Assignee: Elkhart Brass Mfg. Co., Inc.Inventors: James M. Trapp, Raymond A. Boissonneault

Patent number: 5269343Abstract: A valve actuator for opening and closing the shut-off valves on fire trucks. The actuator includes a push rod in communication with an actuator nut and a screw rod. A turn handle fastened to the screw rod allows for delayed opening and closing of the shut-off valves to prevent water shock. The valve actuator also includes magnetic sensors to provide a visual indication of the position of the valve to the operator.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1992Date of Patent: December 14, 1993Assignee: Elkhart Brass Mfg. Patent number: 5113945Abstract: Firefighting apparatus specially adapted to deliver pressurized foam to a target surface. The apparatus includes a unique air injection mixer in which the air discharge nozzles are oriented at oblique angles to the stream flow. The aspirated air causes the foam to expand in the mixer without loss of force through generated turbulence to increase the pumping efficiency of the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1991Date of Patent: May 19, 1992Assignee: Elkhart Brass Mfg. Patent number: 4081172Abstract: A fluid valve having a housing with an inlet and outlet. A valve closure is carried between the inlet and outlet by a stem journaled within the housing. A handle which is rotative relative to the stem and which is utilized to rotate the valve closure is provided. A lock member is carried by the valve housing and is contacted by the handle which, upon rotation, causes the lock member to rotate with the handle relative to the valve housing. A connector extends between the valve stem and the lock member so that, upon movement of the lock member, the connector causes the valve stem to rotate, thus rotating the valve closure within the valve housing.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1976Date of Patent: March 28, 1978Assignee: Elkhart Brass Mfg.
