Abstract: A monitoring device for monitoring the fluid balance of an animal or human body. The device includes a body weight sensor for continuously or periodically weighing the body, a fluid delivery device for providing a controllable supply of fluid to the body, a urine output sensor for determining the urine output of the body, a processor. The processor is adapted for determining a total fluid outtake of the body and a fluid outtake due to perspiration and respiration by taking a signal provided by the body weight sensor and a signal provided by the urine output sensor into account, and providing a control signal to the fluid delivery device to regulate a volume, flow velocity or flow rate of the fluid delivered to the body, so as to maintain a predetermined fluid balance in the body.

  • Publication number: 20230000360
Abstract: A device for measuring a temperature at one or more locations in an organ or tissue inside the human or animal body, a related kit and a related method. The device includes a catheter tube having a distal end for inserting into the body and a proximal end for remaining outside the body in use of the device, and at least one resistive temperature sensor in the tube, and a plurality of electrical wires in the tube that are connected to the at least one resistive temperature sensor. The plurality of electrical wires includes at least some electrical wires running from the proximal end of the tube through the tube. The device includes a connector at the proximal end of the tube for electrically connecting the plurality of electrical wires to an external device. The resistive temperature sensor includes a thermal resistor and a first terminal and a second terminal.

  • Publication number: 20220254504
Abstract: A method for simulating temperatures in the body when in a controllable environment. The method includes receiving a property of the body obtained by measurements, calculating a body-specific parameter of a bioheat model based on the property, obtaining at least one environment-specific parameter, and calculating the temperatures in the body by solving the model taking the body-specific and environment-specific parameters into account. The equivalent thermal circuit of the model includes a blood compartment and a plurality of anatomical segments, each including a plurality of compartments. The interior compartments of a trunk segment include organ compartments representative of different internal organs, which are connected in parallel in the equivalent thermal circuit. This also relates to a device, system and computer-program product.

  • Publication number: 20210228406
Abstract: Hyperthermia system for raising the body temperature of the body of an individual to a predetermined target temperature Tb and for stabilizing the body temperature at the target temperature Tb, including: a thermally insulated cabinet for receiving the individual, equipped with channeling means to channel fluids into the body of the individual; at least one thermal device to raise the body temperature of the individual, when placed inside said cabinet, and to subsequently maintain the target temperature Tb of the individual; one or more devices for heating fluids to be channeled into the body of the individual via the channeling means; one or more sensors to monitor the temperature and/or heat flux of the individual; and a controller to control the at least one thermal means and the one or more devices for heating fluids. The sensors are connected to the controller to provide temperature values and/or heat flux values.
