Patent number: 12229618Abstract: Some embodiments include a smart card reader system that includes a card reader cavity that is impervious to liquid. The card reader cavity includes a secure card reader (SCR) holder bonded to a printed circuit board (PCB), to provide a liquid barrier between the SCR holder and the PCB. The PCB includes an SCR spring contact connector. The card reader cavity can receive a smart card including an integrated circuit (IC), where the IC is coupled to the SCR spring contact connector. A processor coupled to the SCR spring contact connector, can receive an input regarding a transaction using data of the smart card, and execute the transaction. In some embodiments a roller system seals the card reader cavity when the smart card reader system is not in use.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2023Date of Patent: February 18, 2025Assignee: Elo Touch Solutions, Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey Haller

Publication number: 20250036235Abstract: Techniques for providing multi-user multi-touch projected capacitive touch sensors are disclosed herein. Some embodiments may include a method that includes receiving a first sense signal from a first sensing array, the first sensing array configured to provide the first sense signal indicating a first touch on a first touch surface of a touch substrate as well as receiving a second sense signal from a second sensing array, the second sensing array configured to provide the second sense signal indicating a second touch on a second touch surface of a second touch substrate occurring concurrently to the first touch. The method may further include determining whether the first touch and the second touch share at least one anti-ghost. The method may also include associating the first touch and the second touch with a common touch entity in response to determining that the first touch and the second touch share the at least one anti-ghost.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2024Publication date: January 30, 2025Applicant: ELO TOUCH SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Damien BERGET, Kenneth Andrew FEEHAN, Paul Leonard FUTTER, David Samuel HECHT, Joel Christopher KENT, Robert William KITCHIN, Kenneth John NORTH, James RONEY, Kyu-Tak SON, Jung VERHEIDEN, Forrest Kim WUNDERLICH

Patent number: 12210716Abstract: A touch sensor includes a resistive layer on a substrate and electrodes on the resistive layer. The electrodes and portions of the resistive layer between the electrodes form series resistor chains disposed at peripheral regions of the touch sensor and surrounding a touch region of the touch sensor. The electrodes are formed by forming a conductive layer on the resistive layer in a thin-film deposition process, followed by patterning the conductive layer into the electrodes. A sheet resistivity of the resistive layer is between about 200? and about 800?. A sheet resistivity of the conductive layer is between about 0.03? and about 0.2?. A ratio of the sheet resistivity of the resistive layer to the sheet resistivity of the conductive layer is between about 2,500 and about 10,000.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2023Date of Patent: January 28, 2025Assignee: Elo Touch Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Joel C.
