Abstract: An assembly of apparatus for supporting an automatically or manually operating gate which includes a fixed gate-post with a power line and co-acting actuator for moving the gate, disposed within a gate-column or, alternatively, concealed within a housing attached to the hinge on the inside of the gate itself. An embodiment swings vertically. An electronic controller and sensors may be utilized.
Abstract: An assault-resistant gate is intended to bar passage, through an opening, of large vehicles moving at high velocity. The gate has a relatively strong hinge-post. A beam extends from the hinge-post across the opening. The beam is relatively rigid in a horizontal plane. The beam is attached to the hinge-post by a breakaway mounting. The attachment is weaker than the hinge-post. Energy absorbing material is disposed behind the beam on either side of the opening.
