Conditions and characteristics or remote working environments are incorporated into service level agreements as indicators and objectives. This allows an entity to ensure that remote working environments meet certain standards.

Abstract: In one example, a method for managing user access to data contained in a computing system, includes receiving a token from an authentication service, wherein the token includes an application role and associated privilege mask; receiving an authentication request from an entity seeking access to an application; comparing information in the authentication request with the token; approving the authentication request when the information in the authentication request matches the token, and granting access to the application when the authentication request has been approved, and denying access to the application when the information in the authentication request does not match the token. The receiving, comparing, approving, granting, and denying processes are performed by the application to which the entity is seeking access, and wherein when the entity, or a different entity, seeks access to another application, user access to the another application is controlled by the another application.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for detecting violations of user physical location constraints. One method comprises obtaining a constraint on a physical location of a user within a building; evaluating a network signal from a processing device of the user to identify a physical port that connects the processing device of the user to a network; obtaining a mapping of the physical port to a physical location within the building to determine the physical location of the user within the building; determining if the physical location of the user within the building violates the constraint; and initiating an automated remedial action in response to a result of the determining. The user can be identified using a device signature of the processing device of the user (e.g., based on one or more identifiers of hardware, software and/or network elements associated with the processing device).

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method, an electronic device, and a program product for image processing. In one embodiment, a method may include: at an edge node of a network, obtaining a first image generated based on data associated with a target event, wherein the first image has a first resolution ratio. Additionally, the method may further include: sending a second image converted from the first image to a terminal device, wherein the second image has a second resolution ratio higher than the first resolution ratio. According to the embodiments of the present disclosure, by rendering a low-resolution-ratio image at a cloud server and transmitting the image to an edge node or a terminal device for reconstructing a high-resolution-ratio image, the bandwidth and time delay of high-definition image transmission can be significantly reduced, so that the user experience is improved.

Abstract: A search engine responding to a user query to find relevant data assets in a federation business data lake (FBDL) system by monitoring and recording all of the interactions of users interacting with data assets in the FBDL system, providing all of the user interactions to a recommendation engine, calculating relevance of information in the FBDL system to each user, and recommending one or more new data assets to a target user based on the relevance of the information. The relevance comprises the target user's past interactions with the data assets based and the cumulative interactions of other users with the data assets, such that if one or more of the other users has similar interaction behavior to the target user, then knowledge of the one or more other users can impact the relevance of the information with regard to the one or more new data assets suggested to the target user.

Abstract: Application discovery from access patterns is disclosed. Access histories from multiple servers are collected and stored at a warehouse, which may be part of a data protection system. A time series analysis is performed on the access history to identify consistency groups and applications from the perspective of devices and storage arrays. Data protection operations such as backup operations can then be performed on the basis of devices or storage in storage arrays or other arrangements that pertain to specific consistency groups or to specific applications.

Abstract: Processing may be performed in accordance with a policy to assign roles of winner and loser between two nodes. The roles may be used in connection with deadlock resolution processing. A deadlock or potential deadlock may be detected between the two nodes performing processing for two transactions In response to detecting the deadlock or potential deadlock, using a current state may be used to determine whether to perform the deadlock resolution processing to resolve the deadlock or potential deadlock. The current state may indicate whether assignment of the winner and loser roles between the two nodes is in progress. Responsive to the current state indicating that processing is not in progress to assign roles of winner and loser between the two nodes, the current state may be used perform deadlock resolution processing to resolve the deadlock or potential deadlock. The current state may denote which node is the current winner.

Abstract: In general, embodiments relate to a method for storing data, the method comprising generating, by a memory hypervisor module executing on a client application node, at least one input/output (I/O) request, wherein the at least one I/O request specifies a location in a storage pool and a physical address of the data in a graphics processing unit (GPU) memory in a GPU on the client application node, wherein the location is determined using a data layout, and wherein the physical address is determined using a GPU module and issuing, by the memory hypervisor module, the at least one I/O request to the storage pool, wherein processing the at least one I/O request results in at least a portion of the data being stored at the location.

Abstract: At a first time, a system identifies a set of data files which are stored in a part of a data storage system. At a second time, the system identifies each newly encoded data file based on identifying each data file in the set of data files which is encoded and created and/or updated since the first time. The system identifies each compressed data file based on identifying each newly encoded data file which is reduced in size since the first time. The system determines a file compression success rate based on a total count of each compressed data file relative to a total count of each newly encoded data file. If the system determines that the file compression success rate does not satisfy the file compression success rate threshold, the system outputs an alert about an unauthorized encryption in the data storage system.

Abstract: One example method includes injecting processing into sessions including IO sessions. Events in a file system are intercepted and processed. During processing, policies may be applied to the events. Some of the policies are triggered such that external actions or processing is applied to the event. Once the actions have been performed, the event may be processed by the file system.

Abstract: Rebalancing the workload of logical devices across multiple nodes may include dynamically modifying preferred paths for one or more logical devices in order to rebalance the I/O workload of the logical devices among the nodes of the data storage system. Determining whether to rebalance the I/O workload between the two nodes may be performed in accordance with one or more criteria. Processing may include monitoring the current workloads of both nodes over time and periodically evaluating, in accordance with the one or more criteria, whether the current workloads of the nodes are imbalanced. Responsive to determining, in accordance with the criteria, that rebalancing of workload between the nodes is needed, the rebalancing may be performed. A notification may be sent to the host regarding any path state changes made as a result of the workload rebalancing.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for intrusion detection on a computer system. In an example, a computer host device is configured to access data storage of the computer system via a communications network. It can be determined that the computer host device is behaving anomalously because a first current access by the computer host device to the data storage deviates from a second expected access by the computer host device to the data storage by more than a predefined amount. Then, in response to determining that the computer host device is behaving anomalously, the computer system can mitigate against the computer host device behaving anomalously.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for automatic discovery of data records. One method comprises obtaining data records each corresponding to a different item and comprising features extracted from a data source, wherein the data records identify related items identified using a collaborative filter that relates items based on user preferences; generating an item network comprising multiple nodes each corresponding to a different item, where two nodes are connected by an edge based on: (i) an item type of the two nodes, (ii) a ratio of numerical values associated with the two nodes, and/or (iii) a pairwise configuration similarity score for the two nodes; clustering the nodes into node clusters based on topological properties of the item network; and identifying items related to a given item that (i) share an edge with the given item and (ii) are in a node cluster comprising a node of the given item.

One or more data units corresponding to each data operation is identified. Based on the identified one or more data units a data structure comprising a list of data unit records is updated, a determination is made whether to transfer one or more data units in the list of data unit records from a slow media class storage to a fast media class storage, a determination is made whether to transfer one or more data units in the fast media class storage to the slow media class storage, and the one or more data units in the list of data unit records is transferred between the fast media class storage and the slow media class storage based on the determinations.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computer system for receiving, by a computing device, a snapshot create operation of a volume to create a first snapshot. Existing dirty data of the volume for the first snapshot may be flushed from an in-memory cache. New writes to the volume for the first snapshot may be maintained in the in-memory cache as dirty. A snapshot create operation to the volume may be received to create a second snapshot. The new writes to the volume for the first snapshot may be combined as part of the second snapshot.

Abstract: Aspects of annotating data are disclosed. As data is ingested to a data confidence fabric, analytic values, which includes tags or annotations, are attached to or associated with the data by an analytic insertion mechanism. The analytic values allow the data to be used by applications including machine learning algorithms immediately. Feedback from the applications allow the analytic insertion mechanism to improve and generate more valuable analytic values and to generate higher confidence scores for the analytic values.
