  • Patent number: 7293807
Abstract: A door handle assembly having a latch bolt mechanism and a retaining mechanism positioned within a housing. A shaft having a lever handle is positioned within a through hole in the latch bolt mechanism. The lever handle can be rotated in a first direction from a first position to a second position, and in a second opposite direction from the first position to a third position to provide access to an area of a door panel otherwise obstructed by the lever handle.

  • Patent number: 6769214
Abstract: A window retention system includes a door frame having an exterior panel, an interior panel, an opening therethrough defining an inner peripheral channel, the exterior panel includes an upright portion extending along the channel so as to be directed toward the interior panel; and a resiliently flexible window retainer strip yieldably interlocked with and thereby detachably mounted on the door frame. The retainer strip has a longitudinal axis and a first upright portion spaced from and in opposing relation with the upright portion of the exterior panel so as to delimit a first track in the channel and retain the window element therein. The strip includes a second upright portion laterally spaced from the first upright portion. The second upright portion is biased towards and yieldingly interlocks with the channel. A flange extends from the first upright portion of the strip to engage one of the door frame panels and thereby secure the first upright portion of the strip against rotation in a vertical plane.

  • Patent number: 6088966
Abstract: A hinge-emulating gap concealing strip for a door includes an elongated strip having an length generally corresponding to the length of the hinge assembly. The strip has a generally J-shaped cross-section. The strip includes a straight portion adapted mount on the side edge panel of the door, adjacent the gap that normally exists between a side edge panel and the frame or Z bar attached thereto. The strip has an arcuate portion extending forwarding and outwardly from the straight portion. The arcuate portion extends over the gap so as to form a generally convex arch which protrudes outwardly beyond the exterior panel of the door and resembles the convex arch of the hinge assembly. The straight portion of the strip is attached to the side edge panel. Thus, the hinge-emulating gap concealing the strip spans the gap with a strip that emulates the appearance of the hinge to as to enhance the symmetry of the installed door. Brush strips can also be mounted on the J-shaped strip.

  • Patent number: 5946772
Abstract: A cover device for a door closure mechanism includes a detachably mounted shell which has a generally C-shaped cross section and is formed by an elongated wall. The wall has an inside surface which terminates laterally in opposing side edges. An elongated trough extends adjacent the inside surface of the wall and is adapted to receive the door closure housing. A pair of opposing jaw members protrude from the inside surface of the wall adjacent each of the side edges respectively. The opposing jaw members define a lateral opening, the lateral opening is smaller than the diameter of trough. The jaw members are resiliently or elastically deflectable in an outward direction to enlarge the throat opening so as to permit the door closure housing to be inserted laterally into the trough. Once the jaw members have been deflected over the full diameter of the housing, the jaw members spring inwardly to frictionally retain the cover on the door closure housing of the door closure mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5836120
Abstract: A door, such as a storm door, including a body having an aperture therethrough for receiving at least one window element. The body has joined but spaced apart exterior and interior panels. The exterior panel has an integrally formed weep hole therethrough which intersects the aperture and thereby puts the aperture in fluid communication with an exterior surface of the exterior panel so as to allow moisture to drain from the aperture. The weep hole can be concealed in a recessed lower portion of a molding member which is integrally formed with the exterior panel. Thus, the weep hole is concealed from normal view and the attractiveness of the door is not compromised. Additional weep holes can be added as needed for proper drainage.

  • Patent number: 5829508
Abstract: Disclosed is a top mounted interior door closer utilizing as a drive mechanism a yieldable actuator which is exercised during the opening and retraction which is desirably mounted in an encasement having a closing rod extending from one end. The closing rod is secured to a pair of flanking members along a vertical axis, which members, in turn, are positioned for movement in a track. The closer is sandwiched in place interiorly by having elongate slot at the top of the door means of a cover plate. The elongate slot passes a closing link pin pivotally secured to the shaft or bushing joining the rollers or blocks.
