Patent number: 9395711Abstract: A method and system is provided that includes a setpoint monitor in communication with a controller that operates equipment according to setpoint values, each setpoint value having an associated benchmark value. The setpoint monitor receives setpoint modifications based on communication with the controller, each setpoint modification corresponding to a modification of a setpoint value to a modified value different from the associated benchmark value. A terminal in communication with the setpoint monitor displays the setpoint modifications and receives input to revert a setpoint modification from the modified value back to the associated benchmark value. The setpoint monitor communicates with the controller to revert the setpoint value associated with the setpoint modification from the modified value back to the associated benchmark value.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2014Date of Patent: July 19, 2016Assignee: Emerson Climate Technologies Retail Solutions, Inc.Inventors: E. The equipment controller has a memory storing an initial menu of food items each having associated operating parameters for operating the kitchen equipment when preparing the associated food item. The system also includes a supervisory controller in communication with the equipment controller and in communication with a remote monitor that receives an updated menu for the kitchen equipment from a remote terminal. The updated menu includes at least one of a food item modification and an operating parameter modification. The supervisory controller receives the updated menu from the remote monitor and communicates the updated menu to the equipment controller for installation by the equipment controller.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 14, 2015Publication date: November 19, 2015Applicant: Emerson Climate Technologies Retail Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Paul L. Publication number: 20140208785Abstract: A system and method for a CO2 refrigeration system includes a compressor, a heat exchanger, a liquid receiver, a first valve, and a valve controller. The heat exchanger operates as a gas cooler when the CO2 refrigeration system is in a transcritical mode and as a condenser when the CO2 refrigeration system is in the subcritical mode. The first valve controls a flow of refrigerant from the heat exchanger to the liquid receiver. The valve controller monitors an outdoor ambient temperature and a pressure of refrigerant exiting the heat exchanger, determines whether the CO2 refrigeration system is in the subcritical mode or in the transcritical mode, determines a pressure setpoint based on the monitored outdoor ambient temperature, and controls the first valve based on a comparison of the determined pressure setpoint and the monitored pressure when the CO2 refrigeration system is in the transcritical mode.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2014Publication date: July 31, 2014Applicant: EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES RETAIL SOLUTIONS, INC .Inventors: John Wallace, Franklin Beltran, Samuele Da Ros

Patent number: 8761908Abstract: A method and system is provided that includes a controller that operates at least one piece of equipment according to setpoint values and a setpoint monitor in communication with the controller. The setpoint monitor receives setpoint modifications, each setpoint modification corresponding to a modification of one of the setpoint values. The setpoint monitor calculates an expected change in energy consumption of the at least one piece of equipment for each of the setpoint modifications and ranks the setpoint modifications based on the expected change in energy consumption. A first terminal is in communication with the setpoint monitor and displays the setpoint modifications in an order based on the ranking of the setpoint modifications. The first terminal receives input for each setpoint modification of the plurality of setpoint modifications indicating approval or rejection of the setpoint modification.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2013Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignee: Emerson Climate Technologies Retail Solutions, Inc.Inventors: E. Publication number: 20130261809Abstract: A system and method is provided for activating and deactivating heating or cooling stages of an HVAC unit, which includes determining a need for heating or cooling a space to be heated or cooled and activating a heating or cooling stage of the HVAC unit based on the determined need. A monitored temperature is compared with a first temperature setpoint and a monitored on-time of the heating or cooling stage is compared with a first time period setpoint. The heating or cooling stage is deactivated based on the comparison of the monitored temperature with the first temperature setpoint, when the monitored on-time is greater than the first time period setpoint. The monitored temperature is then compared with a second temperature setpoint. The heating or cooling stage is reactivated based on a comparison of the monitored temperature with the second temperature setpoint, when a monitored off-time is greater than the second time period setpoint.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 28, 2013Publication date: October 3, 2013Applicant: Emerson Climate Technologies Retail Solutions, IncInventors: Dennis R. Morrow, Timothy D. Campbell, Samuel Smith, John Wallace

Patent number: 8473106Abstract: A method and system is provided that includes receiving a current setpoint value from a controller that operates at least one piece of equipment according to the current setpoint value, the current setpoint value being set by a first user, comparing the current setpoint value with a benchmark setpoint value, and outputting the current setpoint value and the benchmark setpoint value on a terminal when the current setpoint value is different than the benchmark setpoint value. The method and system also includes receiving, with the terminal, input from a second user indicating one of approval of the current setpoint value or rejection of the current setpoint value, notifying the first user that the current setpoint value has been rejected when the input from the second user indicates rejection of the current setpoint value, and communicating, to the terminal, input from the first user indicating one of agreement or disagreement with the rejection of the current setpoint value.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2010Date of Patent: June 25, 2013Assignee: Emerson Climate Technologies Retail Solutions, Inc.Inventors: E.
