Abstract: A diagnostic tool has a packet based network medium attachment unit, a measurement interface, a network interface, and a microprocessor for reading DLPDUs from a network segment and for taking simultaneous measurements of DLPDUs on the segment. The measurement data is associated with a stored DLPDU if the DLPDU is still active on the network segment when the measurement data is read by the microprocessor. The diagnostic tool utilizes a currently active attribute to determine the status of a DLPDU.
Abstract: A system for generating updated reactive capability curves of a generator operates the generator at a number of operating load levels and at a number of different power factors to collect data regarding the real and reactive power generated at each of the various operating load levels and power factors. Subsequently, the system analyzes the collected data to determine an actual reactive capability curve of the generator. The system also provides generator health monitoring and identifies changes and trends in the capability curves of the generator. The updated reactive capability curves may be used by an economic dispatch program in determining optimum MW and MVAR setpoints for the generator.

Abstract: A trip manifold assembly is disclosed which includes a manifold body connected to a header shaft. The header shaft passes through a plurality of rotary valves. Each rotary valve is connected to a pressure transmitter. The header shaft comprises two passages including a transmitter input passage and a drain passage. The rotary valves each comprise a through passage. A manifold body provides fluid communication between an input source and the transmitter input passage of the header shaft. The manifold also provides communication between the drain passage of the header shaft and a drain vent. The rotary valves are each independently rotatable between two positions including a transmit position where the through passage of each valve provides communication between the transmitter input passage of the header shaft and their respective pressure transmitters.

Abstract: A system for analyzing the impact of operating soot blowers in a heat transfer section of a power plant determines a steam temperature influencing sequence and calculates a feed-forward signal to be applied to a steam temperature control system of the heat transfer section. The system operates a group of soot blowers for a number of times and collects quantitative data related to the steam temperature during and after each soot blowing operation. A computer program used by the system analyzes the quantitative data, generates a number of statistical parameters for evaluating the impact of operating the soot blowers according to a given sequence on the steam temperature, and determines whether the given sequence is a steam temperature influencing sequence.

Abstract: An economic dispatch program allocates a load demand and an emission allowance of a power generation system among various power plants to determine the operational set-points and the pollution control set-points of each of the various power plants in a manner that minimizes the total operating cost for the power generation system, including the pollution control cost. The economic dispatch program uses the pollution control set-points and the load set-points of the various power plants as decision variables and takes into consideration the pollution control costs of the various power plants in allocating the load demand. During operation, the economic dispatch program takes into consideration the pollution credits available to the various power plants in allocating the load demand and pollution control level to determine the optimal operating solution for the power plants.
