Abstract: A weld stud having a cylindrical section permitting engagement by a stud welding gun, joined by a shoulder on to a threaded shank covered up to the shoulder by a cap nut made of plastics, wherein the cylinder section changes through a chamfer into a shoulder and the cap nut is provided with a resilient lip, which stretches to cover the chamfer when the cap nut is brought into contact with the shoulder. The threaded shank may have a ridge close to the shoulder which engages in a corresponding annular recess inside the cap nut. The cap nut may have a coaxial, preferably conical, projection at its end opposite the lip.

Abstract: Control circuit for arc welding components to workpieces, in which a component is placed on to a workpiece by a weld gun and after a welding stroke is lifted from the workpiece in a return stroke by igniting a pre-current arc and is brought up to the workpiece again in a forward stroke during the burning of an interconnected welding arc, in which a sequencing control determines the tripping moments of return stroke and forward stroke as well as of the welding arc and a monitoring voltage is bypassed from the pre-current arc ignited at the welding point, characterized in that the monitoring voltage (V) is converted into a correction voltage (line 27) by means of a set-point comparator (25) and is superposed on a control voltage (line 18) for principally controlling a high-frequency modulated switching mode power supply unit (15) and said switching mode power supply unit (15), in accordance with the thus corrected control voltage, adjusts its output current (lines 13,14) during the respective welding operation

Abstract: A two-part plastic clip for securing a trim moulding to a panel of a vehicle body comprises a hollow body member for reception over a threaded weld stud and a locking member slidable therein. The locking member has resilient arms which project through apertures in the body member both to hold the parts together for handling purpose before use and to hold the moulding against a flange of the body member after the clip has been inserted through a hole in it.

Abstract: A metal blind rivet assembly having a plurality of ribs with flutes between them located about the circumference of the barrel of the rivet sleeve. The ribs are arranged in a helix and at an angle so that during the setting operation a twisting motion takes place to scrape the workpiece so that contaminants such as dirt or varnish are removed to provide electrical contact with the workpiece.

Abstract: Electronic components are deposited in conveyor buckets in a desired sequence to define repetitive groups of components. These components are delivered to an insertion head for insertion into a circuit board. When a component is not properly inserted, the system stops and a replacement part is delivered by a replacement mechanism to an empty bucket on the conveyor. This empty bucket follows the buckets which held the group of components for the board being loaded.
