Publication number: 20150027104Abstract: An exhaust system for reducing particulate and NO2 emissions from diesel engine exhaust gases. The exhaust system includes a diesel particulate filter, an inlet for receiving the exhaust gases, a first conduit for providing a first fluid connection between the inlet and the diesel particulate filter, and a second conduit for providing a second fluid connection between the inlet and the diesel particulate filter. The exhaust system also includes a diesel oxidation catalyst in the second conduit for catalysing hydrocarbon combustion and the formation of NO2 and having high I-IC activity and high NO2 activity, and a fuel injector for injecting fuel upstream of the diesel oxidation catalyst. A valve mechanism for selectively directing exhaust gases from the inlet to the diesel particulate filter through the first conduit or the second conduit is also included. A method for reducing particulate and NO2 emissions using the exhaust system is also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 8, 2013Publication date: January 29, 2015Applicant: Eminox LimitedInventor: Phillip Bush

Patent number: 7351381Abstract: The present invention relates to a gas treatment apparatus for treating the exhaust gas stream from an internal combustion engine. The apparatus comprises several compartments within which one or more treatments are to be performed upon a gas flowing through the compartments. At least one compartment includes a treatment element secured against axial movement at each end. The treatment element is secured at least at one end by removable axial retaining apparatus. The removable axial retaining apparatus includes a secured member secured against axial movement. The treatment element is removable from within the compartment by axial movement after the removable axial retaining apparatus has been removed.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2004Date of Patent: April 1, 2008Assignee: Eminox LimitedInventors: William Frederick Ball, Anthony John Gault, Charles Patrick Harrod

Publication number: 20070274877Abstract: The invention relates to a gas treatment apparatus (1) for treating a gas stream. The gas treatment apparatus (1) comprising addition means (14) for adding a reducing agent (12) to a gas stream passing through the apparatus (1), a guide chamber (8), a mixing conduit (18) and a catalytic treatment chamber (16) containing a catalytic treatment element (20). The apparatus (1) is arranged such that gas must pass through the mixing conduit (18) to pass from the guide chamber (8) to the catalytic treatment chamber (16). The mixing conduit (18) includes an outer wall (22) surrounding a mixing axis (20) within the guide chamber (8). The outer wall (22) including at least one aperture (30) through which a gas can enter the mixing conduit (18) from the guide chamber (8).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2005Publication date: November 29, 2007Applicant: EMINOX LIMITED (A BRITISH COMPANY)Inventors: Phillip Bush, Duncan Arrowsmith, Carl Taylor
