  • Publication number: 20110225952
Abstract: A configuration for purification of an exhaust gas flow of an internal combustion engine includes at least one exhaust gas line having an element for exhaust gas purification with a first end face and a second end face. The exhaust gas flows through the element from the first end face to the second end face. An adding device is provided downstream of the element for adding a reactant to the exhaust gas flow. The adding device is positioned at a distance of no more than 30 mm from the second end face of the element in such a way that at least part of the added reactant strikes the second end face of the element. A method for adding a reactant into an exhaust line during the operation of an internal combustion engine is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20070292707
Abstract: A honeycomb body, especially a particulate filter, particularly for motor vehicle exhaust purification, includes inner walls defining passages with an entry and exit. Cavities free of walls in at least one subregion contain at least one spherical free space having a largest cross-sectional area at least 10 times a cross-sectional area of the passages in the subregion. The honeycomb body is wound, twisted or layered from at least one metal sheet having layers with a structuring forming the passages, at least in the subregion. The sheet-metal layers have holes with an area greater than 10 times the cross-sectional area of the passages in the subregion. The holes form cavities in at least 5 successive layers overlapping with an area at least 10 times the cross-sectional area of the passages in the subregion. The holes are double or more than triple the hydraulic diameter of the passages opening into the cavity.

  • Patent number: 6391421
Abstract: An extruded honeycomb body, in particular a catalytic converter carrier body, having a plurality of passages through which a fluid can flow and of which at least a portion is bordered and/or separated from each other with passage walls of a first thickness and at least a portion is bordered and/or separated from each other with passage walls of a second thickness. The first thickness is less than the second thickness and the honeycomb body has a wall structure which stabilizes it and which is formed with passage walls of the second thickness. The stabilizing wall structure has a plurality of approximately straight wall portions of the second thickness which, transversely with respect to the local configuration of the edge of the honeycomb body, extend from a respective outside into the interior of the honeycomb body or extend through the honeycomb body.
