  • Publication number: 20140318638
Abstract: A fluid distribution apparatus includes a trailer having a central platform and one or more sets of wheels. The central platform may include two or more hose reels mounted thereto, each of the hose reels including a reel that is rotatable about a rotation axis and a fluid distribution hose windable around the reel. The rotation axis of each of the hose reels may be generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the central platform. The central platform may also include a manifold coupled with each of the hose reels and couplable with an external fluid source, such as a natural gas fuel source. The manifold may provide fluid from the external fluid source to each of the fluid distribution hoses of the respective hose reels.

  • Patent number: 8596383
Abstract: A method for detecting hydrocarbon zones in a geological formation, including obtaining a plurality of pulverized drill cutting samples representative of the geological material encountered at measured depth intervals, each drill cutting obtained at periodic intervals during the drilling process; measuring each cutting sample with a color measuring device to obtain a value representing the degree of lightness of the particular cutting sample; and analyzing the measured lightness values by order of borehole depth that the respective cutting sample was obtained to determine the presence of geological zones likely to possess producible hydrocarbons. L* data may be combined with other well logging data to improve the hydrocarbon layer determination accuracy. A method also for locating the drill bit within a desired hydrocarbon layer during directional drilling.

  • Patent number: 6935426
Abstract: Embodiments provide systems and methods in which a non-viscous fluid, having a heavy concentration of an appropriate breaker, is pumped into a well in front of viscosified fluid, such as a cross-linked polymeric fracturing fluid, to saturate permeable media with a breaker agent. When a polymer filter cake is subsequently formed on the surfaces of the media the breaker is provided good communication with the polymer filter cake for its breakdown and removal. Communication between the breaker and the polymer filter cake is substantially controlled by an operator in that the breaker remains saturated in the permeable media until such time as the operator decreases hydraulic pressure within the well to a point at which the hydraulic pressure of the media forces the breaker back into the well.
