Abstract: A pre-stressed structure and a method for forming a pre-stressed structure are provided. The pre-stressed structure comprises a panel including a first region pre-stressed into a condition of membrane tension, resulting in the panel having increased transverse stiffness. The pre-stressed structure may further comprise a second region pre-stressed into a condition of membrane compression. The panel may be a plate or a shell and may form part of an insulating glass unit, which in turn may form part of a curtainwall unit.
Abstract: An adjustable attachment system is provided for attaching a unit to a base. The adjustable attachment system comprises an embed, a bridging clip and a locking strip. The bridging clip is adapted for receiving an attachment piece, to which the unit may be attached. The embed is positioned in an outward facing surface of the base. The bridging clip is positioned in the embed at a desired in/out position. The position of the bridging clip may be adjusted in two orthogonal directions. The locking strip is inserted between the bridging clip and the embed to fix the bridging clip in place.
Abstract: A modular curtainwall system and a method for forming a curtainwall unit are provided. The modular curtainwall system comprises a unit frame and a cassette. The cassette comprises a subframe and an interior portion. The stick unit frame and cassette may be assembled into a curtainwall unit at an offsite facility.

Abstract: A slot ventilator including a housing and a closure member. The housing includes a face with an airflow opening defined in said face. When the closure member is in a first position, the closure member abuts against the face and generally closes the airflow opening. When the closure member is in a second position, the closure member is offset from the face and the airflow opening is generally unobstructed by the closure member. The housing further provides a drive mechanism for displacing the closure member from the housing.
