Publication number: 20120266375Abstract: An emergency shower system attaches to a water pipe behind a wall and a valve mounted to the pipe. A frame is mounted to the wall around the valve, and a panel connected to the frame for covering an opening in the wall. The panel has an opening, and a plate is mounted to the panel to close the panel opening. A handle is mounted to the plate. A linkage is pivotally connected to the plate and to the valve. Vertical movement of the handle and plate are translated to rotational movement by the linkage to operate the valve. The handle only moves vertically at a constant distance from the wall. An eye/face wash station may be included. The eye/face wash station includes a pull down tray with spray nozzles. The nozzles are connected to another valve which is opened by the rotation of the pull down tray.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2012Publication date: October 25, 2012Applicant: ENCON SAFETY PRODUCTS, INC.Inventors: James Ellis Marrs, Robert James Johnston

Publication number: 20120186010Abstract: An emergency eye wash system having a support panel and a pair of brackets for holding two bag assemblies containing sterile and sealed eye wash solution. The bag assemblies are connected by hoses to a pair of nozzles mounted on a pivotal tray assembly. When the system is dormant, the tray assembly is in a vertical closed position. When there is an emergency, a user pulls on a pivotal handle to puncture membranes in the hoses and to lower the tray assembly to cause flow from the bags to the nozzles to the user's face.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2011Publication date: July 26, 2012Applicant: ENCON SAFETY PRODUCTS INC.Inventors: Robert James Johnson, David G. Patent number: 7082627Abstract: An emergency shower system for attachment to a water pipe located behind a wall and a valve mounted to the pipe. The system includes a frame mounted to the wall around the valve, a panel connected to the frame for covering an opening in the wall to expose the valve, the panel having an opening, a plate mounted to the panel to close the panel opening and a handle mounted to the plate. The system also includes a linkage pivotally connected to the plate and to the valve, such that vertical movement of the handle and plate are translated to rotational movement by the linkage so as to operate the valve. There are no openings apparent in the front of the shower system. The handle only moves vertically and at a constant distance of about one and a half inches from the wall. An eye/face wash station may be included with the shower. The eye/face wash station includes a pull down tray with two spray nozzles. The nozzles are connected to another valve which is opened by the rotation of the pull down tray.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2004Date of Patent: August 1, 2006Assignee: ENCON Safety Products Inc.Inventors: James Ellis Marrs, Robert James Johnson

Patent number: 6270014Abstract: An emergency tempered water blending apparatus is described which has a threeway, thermostatic mixing valve for mixing a cold water intake stream with a hot water intake stream at effective proportions to form a tempered water output stream having a desired, preset temperature. When the flow of the cold water is detected, a normally-closed valve in the tempered water stream opens allowing flow to the user. Water flow defaults to cold water upon either a mechanical or electrical failure, or upon the temperature of the tempered water becoming too hot to reduce probability of failure in hot mode.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2000Date of Patent: August 7, 2001Assignee: Encon Safety ProductsInventors: Christopher J. Patent number: 6205599Abstract: A push plate for moving a flow control valve in a covered eye wash fountain is interconnected with a cover whereby opening the flow control valve also opens the cover while simultaneously providing independent opening and closure of the cover without moving the push plate, and simultaneously providing closure of the flow control valve from an open position without closing the cover. The covered eyewash fountain embodying the present allows the cover to be raised and the fountain inspected, cleaned, serviced, or repaired without opening the flow control valve.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2000Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Encon Safety ProductsInventor: Allan D. Patent number: 5530972Abstract: An eyewash fountain, particularly useful in industrial and laboratory environments, includes a pair of spray heads mounted on a distribution arm that is connected to a valve. The valve has a rotatable body that is connected to a base by a reversible retainer permitting the valve to be installed on either the left or right side of a sink or drain, and the distribution arm along with the spray heads swung or, alternatively, lowered to a position over the sink. The single action of moving the distribution arm over the sink is sufficient to initiate a flow of fluid to the eyes. Each of the spray heads has an internal volumetric flow regulator, a fluid pressure distributor or diffuser, and a large number of small apertures in the face of each head which direct a uniform, evenly distributed, low pressure flow of fluid to the eyes.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1995Date of Patent: July 2, 1996Assignee: Encon Safety ProductsInventor: Stephen F. Patent number: 5528320Abstract: The present application describes protective eyewear having a unitary brow bar with temples and flexible molded hinges. The temples may be adjusted in length. The frame includes integrally molded flexible hinges which allow the temples to collapse. A unitary spherical lens is selectively attached to the frame and can be adapted to wrap around the forehead of the wearer's temples and include a nose bridge for supporting the lens on the wearer's nose. A stabilizing strip may be used to hold the frame and lens in place when the eyewear is assembled.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1995Date of Patent: June 18, 1996Assignee: Encon Safety ProductsInventors: Paul B. Patent number: 5381567Abstract: Disclosed is an a mobile emergency eyewash and bodysplash apparatus for delivering water for cleaning chemical irritants from eyes or skin. The apparatus includes a water tank housing which holds a water tank. A second housing contains a drench nozzle and eyewash fountain, both of which are connected by tubing to the water tank. The second housing is slidably and rotatably mounted on top of the water tank housing. The apparatus generally is positioned in the back of a pickup truck, so that during operation, the drench nozzle and eyewash fountain housing is slidably moved from the top of the water tank housing and rotated into place on the side of the truck. A panel on the second housing is opened to reveal the drench nozzle and eyewash fountain.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1993Date of Patent: January 17, 1995Assignee: Encon Safety ProductsInventors: Stephen F.
