  • Patent number: 5050464
Abstract: A multi-surface wrench is provided which is automatically self-adjustable to capture nuts or bolts of differing sizes over a predetermined useful range. The multi-surface wrench is self-camming upon application of a torque producing or turning force and is ratchetable upon application of a ratcheting force. The multi-surface wrench includes a handle assebmly having a biasing spring disposed therein and a wrench head assembly secured to the handle assembly. The wrench head assembly includes a body member pivotally attached to the handle assembly by a first pivot pin and a hook member pivotally attached to the handle assembly by a second pivot pin. The biasing spring coacts with the hook member for automatic self-adjustment of the wrench head assembly to capture nuts of differing sizes.

  • Patent number: 4593585
Abstract: A continuously adjustable wrench suitable for use with a range of nut or bolt head sizes and having a handle which is offset or angularly disposed with respect to the wrench head. The wrench provides contact with the nut or bolthead at three spaced, opposing points such that the rotational torque imparted thereto is optimized and the strength required for the wrench head for a given torque is reduced. In one embodiment, the wrench head is pivotally disposed with respect to the handle either about a single pivot or a double pivot to drive a camming contact surface on the handle into contact with a confronting surface of the nut or bolthead. In another embodiment, a contact surface is adjustable longitudinally along the handle to be positioned adjacent the nut or bolthead.

  • Patent number: 4047462
Abstract: A toggle bolt capable without disassembly or reassembly of cutting a mounting hole through a wall and being easily installed therein. The toggle bolt includes a generally tubular sleeve having an internally threaded collar pivotally mounted at a position along the longitudinal axis of the sleeve such that the sleeve includes a heavier portion between the collar and one end and a lighter portion between the collar and the opposite end. One of the sleeve ends has cutting teeth or other cutting configuration, and a slot is provided in the wall of the sleeve along the lighter portion thereof. A bolt is threaded into the collar and is disposable transversely of the sleeve during drilling of a mounting hole and is disposable via the slot coaxially of the sleeve for insertion of the sleeve through the mounting hole for anchoring therein.
