  • Patent number: 10794161
Abstract: A fluid transport system has electromagnetic elements spaced along a tubular that are controlled by a controller. A fluid thruster is provided in the tubular and has a thruster body having a downstream end and an upstream end, and a magnetic element carried by the thruster body. A valve member is carried by the thruster body that is actuatable between an open position that permits fluid flow to traverse the thruster body, and a closed position that prevents fluid flow to traverse the thruster body, in response to fluid pressure. The controller sequentially activates the electromagnetic elements to propel the fluid thruster in either the upstream direction or the downstream direction. In the upstream direction, the valve member is moved to the open position, and in the downstream direction, the valve member is moved to the closed position.

  • Patent number: 10408503
Abstract: A heat pump system comprises two units in fluid communication with each other, with each unit including a housing containing an air/brine heat exchanger that includes a direct contact air/brine heat exchanger pad. A brine inlet in the housing supplies liquid brine to the upper end of the air/brine heat exchanger so that the brine flows downwardly through the heat exchanger pad. An air inlet in the housing directs ambient air into the heat exchanger pad in a direction transverse to the flow of brine through the pad, and an air outlet discharges the air from the housing. A brine reservoir receives brine passed through the air/brine heat exchanger. A pair of brine/refrigerant heat exchangers is coupled to the brine reservoirs, for receiving brine from the reservoirs, and coupled to the brine inlets of different ones of the housings, and a refrigerant supply supplies refrigerant to the brine/refrigerant heat exchangers.

  • Patent number: 10186472
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for processing flexible graphite sheet material involve patterning the material, on at least one major surface, prior to further processing of the material such as densification, lamination, folding or shaping into three-dimensional structures. For densification and lamination, the patterning is selected to facilitate the removal of air from the flexible graphite sheet material during the densification and lamination process. For folding or shaping, the patterning is selected to render the graphite sheet material more flexible. In some embodiments, methods for increasing the through-plane conductivity of flexible graphite sheet material are employed. Integrated heat removal devices include sheets of graphite material that have been selectively patterned in different regions to impart desirable localized properties to the material prior to it being shaped or formed into an integrated heat removal device.

Abstract: A rotating liquid ring rotating casing gas turbine (10) has at least one liquid ring rotating casing (13) having an eccentrically mounted impeller (11) adapted to rotate within a surrounding liquid ring (14) so as to form chambers (15) of successively increasing volume between adjacent vanes of the impeller. A working fluid formed by high pressure gas is injected into the impeller where the chambers are narrow via a fluid inlet (19) within a static axial bore (23) of the impeller so as to rotate the impeller and in so doing the gas expands isentropically. A fluid outlet (20) within the static axial bore of the impeller and fluidly separated from the fluid inlet allows the working fluid to escape at low pressure and low temperature.
