Abstract: A storage rack system for providing high density storage of data cartridges. The storage rack system includes high density center racks having storage capability on opposing sides of the racks. Movable racks having upper rollers recessed below the plane of the upper surface of the movable racks and lower rollers are mounted on the system on both sides of the center racks. The movable racks allow access to at least one column of tape cartridge holders supported on the center racks. Brake members are resiliently mounted on the lower surfaces of the outer movable racks enabling the movable members to come to a complete stop without excessive jarring of the racks or tape cartridge holders.

Abstract: Disclosed is a human and machine readable label which is divided into three areas. The top portion of the label, which is typically half the length of the label, is divided into two columns. One of these columns contains a bar code with a quiet zone at each end of the bar code. This bar code contains the entire message of the label in a machine readable bar code format. The other column of the top portion of the label contains the first few characters of the human readable portion of the message. The bottom portion of the label contains the remainder of the human readable message and is printed throughout the entire width of the label, thus allowing the characters to be a much larger size that the human readable characters contained in the top portion of the label. The label is of a size that allows it to be placed on one end of a 3480 style tape cartridge, as well as allowing it to be placed on other types of media such a file folders.

Abstract: A holder for tape cartridges having a plastic housing divided by a partition to form an upper section and a lower section each of which has a plurality of compartments integrally formed therein so that a tape cartridge may be positioned in each of the compartments and be supported on a bottom support surface and separate resilient force applying structures are secured to the housing and located between an upper surface of the compartment and the upper surface of the tape cartridge to apply a resilient force against the tape cartridge to urge the tape cartridge against the bottom support surface to retain the tape cartridge in the compartment and wherein abutment surfaces on the upper and lower sections cooperate with abutment surfaces on the resilient force applying structures to retain the resilient force applying structures in proper position. Also, the compartments are formed by specially shaped partitions to facilitate entry of the tape cartridges therein.

Abstract: Apparatus for use in the storage and retrieval of tape cartridges is provided and comprises a fixed storage rack having horizontal shelves for holding tape cartridge storage holders, and a plurality of movable storage racks are mounted for rolling movement in front of the fixed storage rack. Male and female guides on the fixed storage rack and the movable storage rack guide the movement of the movable storage rack. A roller assembly is mounted on each of the movable storage racks and has one wheel mounted on a fixed axle and a second wheel mounted on an adjustable axle so that each movable storage rack may be adjusted to align it with the fixed storage rack.

Abstract: A compartment forming member for supporting an article such as a tape cartridge on an elongated shelf having a support surface and depending flange portions wherein the compartment forming member has a base portion having a width slightly greater than the width of the support surface and depending flanges and mounting means for mounting the compartment forming member on the support surface including integral spaced apart support members depending from the base portion for supporting the base portion so that it is inclined to and spaced from the support surface and with the flange portions and flanges being in a resilient contacting relationship.

Abstract: A desk-type work station for a computer-type system apparatus is provided wherein a generally flat top panel having a central transparent portion is supported on a pair of laterally spaced apart supports to define a work space therebetween and beneath the central transparent portion so that a display screen movably supported beneath the central transparent portion may be readily viewed and a central drawer is provided on which is supported a keyboard-type input apparatus and wherein one component of the computer-type system apparatus is located in one of the supports and another component thereof is located in the other of the supports.

Abstract: Apparatus for stacking one computer control unit of a certain type on top of another computer control unit of the same type comprising a plurality of walls which are secured together to form a frame having a central opening. Each of the walls has an outer surface, an inner surface, a top side and a bottom side. Reinforcing members are secured to at least a plurality of the inner surfaces for adding strength to the open frame. The reinforcing members have a top surface and a bottom surface so that the open frame may be positioned over the top portion of one computer control unit so that the bottom surface contacts at least a portion of the one computer control unit and the other computer control unit may be positioned on the top surface of the reinforcing members. All of the components are formed from metal and are secured together in the desired relationship by welding.

Abstract: The label generation apparatus enables the user to define a label of arbitrary size, shape and characteristics. Each label in a series of labels includes unique indicia that individually identify each label according to any predefined sequence. The label generation apparatus includes a template generation capability that enables the user to define the basic label format having one or more writable indicia fields. These one or more writable indicia fields can be used to provide each label with individual identifying indicia according to any predetermined sequence. The label generation apparatus also includes an indicia generation capability that produces the individual identification according to various characteristics that are specified by the user of this apparatus.

Abstract: An integrally molded plastic holder for tape cartridges is provided wherein the holder is partitioned into an upper section and a lower section by two spaced apart ledges integrally formed therewith and wherein the upper and lower sections have a plurality of compartments dimensioned to receive a tape cartridge and wherein a plurality of resiliently tab portions are mounted between the upper and lower ledges so that a portion of each tab portion is located in a recess in a tape cartridge when the tape cartridge has been inserted into one of the compartments to restrain the removal of the tape cartridge from the compartment. The tab portions are mounted so that, when the tab portions are in the recesses, they are in an unstressed condition.

Abstract: A holder for tape cartridges having a housing divided by a partition to form an upper section and a lower section each of which has a plurality of compartments integrally formed therewith from a relatively rigid plastic material so that a tape cartridge may be positioned in each of the compartments and separate resilient force applying structures, integrally formed from a plastic material more rigid than the plastic material in the housing, and secured to the housing so as to apply a resilient force against the tape cartridge in a compartment to urge the tape cartridge against portions of the housing to hold the tape cartridge in the compartment.

Abstract: Apparatus for supporting a drafting table, such as a digitizer, for vertical and pivotal movement thereof wherein a fixed hollow column is supported on a base member and a movable hollow column is mounted inside of the fixed hollow column for vertical up or down movement thereof and wherein the weight of the drafting table is counter-balanced by a constant spring mounted on the upper portion of the fixed hollow column and on the lower portion of the movable hollow column so that a portion of the constant spring is between the fixed and movable hollow columns and an elongated support member mounted on the upper portion of the movable hollow column and extending generally in a horizontal direction for supporting the drafting table and pivot means for pivotally connecting the drafting table to the elongated support member.
