    Abstract: The invention provides a tubing material suitable for constructing a double-walled dead shaft idler. The idler so constructed is lighter weight than standard idlers. It permits bearings to be mounted at a distance recessed from the ends of the idler, thereby reducing deflection or bending of the idler. The tubing also includes built-in balancing lugs.
