Publication number: 20060163127Abstract: An indicator suitable for signaling restricted flow of a fluid through a filter mounted in a filter assembly is disclosed. The indicator includes a housing having an inner cavity. A diaphragm is disposed within the housing and separates the inner cavity into first and second chambers with a seal. The first chamber is adapted to be in fluid communication with the filter assembly, and the diaphragm is deflectable from a neutral position in response to applied pressures within the first and second chambers. A tab assembly, having a hole, is included in the indicator opposite the diaphragm form the first chamber. The tab assembly also includes a flag moveable along a first axis from a first position wherein the flag is within the housing and a second position wherein the flag extends from the housing. A pin is operably coupled to the diaphragm and protrudes along a second axis into the hole when the diaphragm is in the neutral position.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2005Publication date: July 27, 2006Applicant: Engineered Products Co.Inventors: Charles Berry, H. Patent number: 6464077Abstract: A container includes a casing defining an annular chamber for a volume of thread or wire pre-wound into coils to accommodate therein without becoming tangled, and a cover detachably closed onto the casing. A clearance exists between an upper peripheral edge of the casing and a lower peripheral edge of the cover when the cover and the casing are closed, allowing a free end of the thread or wire in the annular chamber to locate outside the container via the clearance. Therefore, the thread or wire in the container could be easily accessed and pulled outward at the free end for use without the need of opening the cover. The container could be refilled with a new thread or wire and therefore could be repeatedly used.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2001Date of Patent: October 15, 2002Assignee: Faithful Engineering Products Co., Ltd.Inventor: Samson Liu

Patent number: 6425682Abstract: A lighting apparatus includes a first portion and a second portion which form an enclosure for a light source. The first portion extends from a first end to a second end, where the first end has a collar adapted to couple with an electrical socket with a snap fit connection. The electrical socket receives a light source therein. The second end of the first portion is hingedly coupled with the second portion, thereby allowing removal of the light source.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2000Date of Patent: July 30, 2002Assignee: Engineered Products Co.Inventor: Dale A. Patent number: 6289726Abstract: A fuel filter restriction indicating device communicating with the supply of fuel passing from a fuel tank to an internal combustion engine. The indicating device senses a decrease in the supply of fuel drawn through the fuel filter by the engine based upon changes in the amount of vacuum in the negative side of the fuel supply, the amount of restriction being indicated by the movement of an indicating device. A mechanism included in the indicating device senses the movement of the indicating device and progressively locks the indicating device into various indicating positions as the vacuum increases due to an increased restriction of the filter, so that the maximum reading of restriction achieved during engine operation remains visible to the operator or maintenance personnel even after the engine is turned off.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1999Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Engineered Products Co.Inventors: Gregory Matthew Ferris, Jerry Lee Manross, Charels Henry Berry, III, Michael Dean Metcalf, Laverne Lee Sidler

Patent number: 5850183Abstract: An air restriction indicating device for measuring very low ranges of filter restriction (e.g., on the order of 0.0 to 1.5 inches of H.sub.2 O or 0.0 to 0.54 psi) in a micronfilter used in vehicular heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The indicating device includes a housing that is separated into two sub-chambers by a flexible diaphragm. A indicating member is carried by the diaphragm so that the diaphragm and the indicating member move, within the housing, responsively to changes in the pressure of the air flowing in the HVAC system caused by restrictions in or clogging of the micronfilter. To facilitate reading, the indicating device also includes structure that progressively locks the diaphragm and indicating member in position.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1995Date of Patent: December 15, 1998Assignee: Engineered Products Co.Inventor: Charles Henry Berry, III

Patent number: 5774056Abstract: An indicating device includes a housing that is separated into two sub-chambers by a flexible diaphragm. A indicating member is carried by the diaphragm so that the diaphragm and the indicating member move, within the housing, responsively to changes in the pressure of the air flowing through an air intake system caused by restrictions in or clogging of the air intake filter. The indicating device incorporates an electromechanical sensor for monitoring the position of the diaphragm and producing an output signal responsive thereto. In one embodiment, the sensor is a potentiometer which produces an output signal which varies continuously between a first value when the diaphragm is at its unrestricted position and a second value when the diaphragm is at its restricted position. In a second embodiment, the sensor includes a switching circuit which produces a switched output signal which varies between at least three states corresponding to three different diaphragm positions.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1996Date of Patent: June 30, 1998Assignee: Engineered Products Co.Inventors: Charles Henry Berry, III, Jerry Lee Manross, Thomas Alan Stoll, Gregory Matthew Ferris, James Nathan Forry

Patent number: 5183134Abstract: In a lubricant delivery system for use in an air compressor having a rotatable crankshaft and an internal chamber accessible by removal of an inspection plate having inner and outer surfaces, a positive displacement fluid pump mounted in the internal chamber and fluid lines for conveying lubricating fluid from the pump to a removable filter mounted on the outer surface of the inspection plate. Pressure relief means are associated with the filter for relieving pressure above a set point, and a distribution ring is adaped to circumscribe the crankshaft for introducing lubricating fluid to the crankshaft and from there to areas where lubrication is required.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1992Date of Patent: February 2, 1993Assignee: Triangle Engineered Products Co.Inventor: Victor D. Patent number: 3977970Abstract: Waste water containing particulate matter is saturated with air or other gas by a dynamic mixer and ejected into a gravity filter system at a point above the filter media but below the water surface level. Upon entering the filter tank, the dissolved gas is released, forming small bubbles on filterable particles to float these particles to the surface for removal. The system further includes a back pressure valve at the sewage inlet port which, if obstructed, is automatically flushed. During the backwash cycle, the water level above the filter bed may be lowered to the level of a wash-through zone, and filtered water then pumped upward through the filter media, thereby carrying particles from the filter media out through the wash-through zone.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1974Date of Patent: August 31, 1976Assignee: Keystone Engineering & Products Co.
